In the Forest of Tyto lies the Head Quarters of a group of Barn owls called the Resistance. They decline to join the Pure Ones or Saint Aggies groups and would rather die amongst who they think is right then join those two sides. They are protectors of the Forest and do there best to fight off any enemies and save any owls or owlets within the forest. The Resistance's HQ is a tree that appears to have been huge, once upon a time, but know is halfed with the upper half leaning against the trunk forming a sort of upsidedown V. The trunk is hollowed out creating a huge hollow and there are a few more hollows in the upper half. This was there choice because it gave the illusion of an old abandoned tree. There is something off though, there has been to many suceeded attacks and owl nappings that some are starting to thing that the Resistance was crushed, all owls that have tried to investigate the Resistances HQ have gone missing. The funny thing is that the Pure Ones nor St. Aggies. have had nothing to do with this. Most of the Guardians are not able to help do to bigger problems and the owls of Tyto are beginning to cry out for help from anyone. The question is.........Will anyone answer?

Cleef was now flying over the Forest of Tyto. He had been at a slipgizzle, who was a friend of his, asking if he knew anyone that needed help. The slipgizzle had answered with saying "I've heard that the Forest Kingdom of Tyto is in need of some aid." and he had continued about how the Resistance had disappeared. He also said that some think they had been crushed. Cleef had thanked his friend and flew towards the Forest of Tyto for two reasons. Reason one was because of his never ending journey to save owls, or his quest to save souls as some of the more philosphical owls called it. The other reason was because he was friends with the Resistance.
Cleef was now flying over the tree head quarters of the resistance and saw the massive trunk of the tree. It went down about thirty feet and had a few perches for the resistance to counsel on. Sort of like the Great tree's but less elagant. Cleef decended into the bottom of the trunk. What he found was...........signs of a fight. There were scrolls and battle masks scattered everywhere, but what scared Cleef the most was the dried blood that was everywhere. He was happy that there where no remains left but he quickly flew out of the trunk and yarped about five pellets. He decided to search the other half of the tree but feared for his friends and the Forest.
Cleef had looked through all the hollows but come up with nothing but belongings that had been rumaged through. He was about to fly away when he noticed a lone scroll balanced on two of the tree's leafless limbs. Cleef flew over to the scroll and landed on one of the limbs it was on. The first thing he noticed was that the scroll was glued to the limbs with tree sap and that the limbs it was glued on had fresh talon marks. He didn't know how he knew he just felt it. Cleef read the scroll it was in some sort of riddle.
"To those owls who have kind hearts and strong gizzards. We are hidden where there seems to be blizzards. But if you fly through the blizzards, careful not to shiver, you will find a quiver. Make sure its in our fliver."
Cleef read this over and over again and the only thing he could understand was that "fliver" was one of the Resistances codewords for forest. That meant that they were still in the forest. Cleef remembered seeing a pouch that carried scrolls in one of the hollows he flew back to the hollow retrieved the pouch then he flew back to the scroll. He ripped the scroll off of the limbs careful not to leave part of the riddle on the tree, rolled the scroll up, and put it into the pouch. He then flew to the part of the old tree were he was most exposed to any passing or nesting owl nearby.
He knew some owl in the Forest of Tyto would be curious about an owl sitting on the Resistance's tree, or at least he hoped. He needed help to save these owls so, he waited.
(OOC: Story will progress either after a few owls show up or tomorow at 8:00pm eastern)

Several months ago, the Pure Ones had received word of the Resistance disappearing in the Tyto Forest. Because nobody really believed these rumors Tinker had been sent to learn more, as if wasting his time meant nothing to them. Of course, as an added insult, nobody had told him where the headquarters of the Resistance was, so his task was not so much information gathering, as an exercise in futility. Tinker flew in from the west. From a good distance off, he could see a small, lopsided owl sitting on a lonely branch protruding from a tree. Tinker had been bumbling around in Tyto for several nights, and was quite irritated with his leaders. As he flew closer, he saw that the owl was not lopsided, but was wearing some kind of bag. Closer still, and he discovered the owl was Cleef, a burrowing owl he had associated with once before and liked, in an odd kind of way. He seemed obsessed with saving owls, but not saving souls, in the meme of a Glauxian Brother. At least, Tinker thought, the quest was positive one, and worthy of respect. Tinker landed beside Cleef. "Good tiding, Cleef, I had not expected to see you here."

Cleef jumped alittle. "OH! Hello Tinker you caught me not paying attention to the things around me but paying attention to my thoughts." Cleef churred "Have you heard about the Resistance?" Cleef took the scroll out and held on to it. Preparing to show Tinker. He knew that Tinker was a Pure One, do to mentioning his name to a slipgizzle, but he also knew he could trust Tinker. Plus Cleef needed all the help he could get, Whether it was from a Guardian or a Crow.
(OCC: Will progress farther either after 8:00pm eastern time or when a fair amount of owls show up.)

"I have heard little enough." Tinker said, eyeing the scroll hungrily. "I was sent by the Pure Ones to learn more, but they know, or told me, less than nothing, only that they resided here." OOC: Okay, I can wait, but let's hope more people log on

(OCC: I know atleast Bunko (Don't know if she joins RPs or not) and/or Vae may log in. Bunkos also sending out active notices to all members Sunday. Plus I can at least show you the riddle.)
"Well let me tell you something about the Resistance. They are the protectors of Tyto Forest. The guardians can't be around all the time so a group of Barn owls formed what is called the Resistance. The rumors are true and they have disappeared. All I've found from the tree here is signs of a struggle. It's been ransacked and there's dryed blood all over the inside of the trunk. I also found this." Cleef unrolled the scroll, revealing it's contents.
"To those owls who have kind hearts and strong gizzards. We are hidden where there seems to be blizzards. But if you fly through the blizzards, careful not to shiver, you will find a quiver. Make sure its in our fliver."
"The only thing I can enlighten you about it is that "fliver" means forest in there code. Can you make any sense of it?"
(OCC: Same as the progresion deadlines as my posts above.)

Tinker shakes his head, one can almost see the feathers on his head begin to singe from his concentration. Then he looks up at Cleef. "Do you have a map? Of the N'yrthghar? My knowledge of geography is imperfect, but I can only think of one location where blizzards and trees intermingle, and that is the Glauxian Brother's retreat."

"No I don't have a map." Cleef checked the pouch "Nor did this owl. Also I would like to point out, the riddle says "....make sure it's in OUR fliver" so it's saying that they are still in Tyto. The question is where? I do like your reasoning though, and if the riddle didn't say what it says I would agree with going to the retreat." Just then a sudden gust of wind took the scroll out of Cleef's talons'. Cleef watched as the scroll desended into the trunk of the tree. "Nice" muttered Cleef to himself. "Wait here while I retrieve the scroll Tinker. I may still have a use for it." Cleef dived of the branch and dissapeared into the trunks darkness.
After a few minutes Cleef reamerged and landed beside Tinker once again with the scroll in the pouch. "Well I've discovered another part to our mystery." Cleef held up a talon to show what looked like blood. "What I thought of as blood is actually red dye. At a first horrorfying look it appears to be blood. But when it is touched and tasted it is revealed to be a red dye made from cherries. When you had tied the Resistance's disappearence to the N'yrthgar you weren't entirly right but I think the Resistance was Owl napped. Along with all other investigating owls. Let me ask you a question. Can you think of who I think has taken the Resistance? I'll goive you another hint, they are owls that like to color themselves with dye." Cleef wiped the cherry dye onto the limb he perched while awaiting to see Tinker's answer. Although it was made from cherries and had a tinge of cherry flavor it tasted pretty valgor.

What in the world caused him to start tasting dried blood? Tinker thought incredulously. He then returned his thoughts to the matter at hand. "Many owls use dye, it is not a closely guarded secret." Tinker said. "Although I have never heard of owls who used it on themselves." Tinker pulled the riddle out of Cleef's bag and read it again. "The riddle says 'Where there seem to be blizzards.' Does that perhaps mean there really aren't blizzards? Perhaps, what could seem to be a blizzard in a forest could be a large fire."

Cleef thought a moment "You know Tinker that could very well be." Cleef thought another moment. "I wonder if there is anything else usefull down inside that trunk. There's alot of scrolls and paper down there, maybe there's a map drawn by the owl that wrote the riddle. I know it may sound like an invasion of privacy but if there is one it may explain alittle more. If we can atleast find something that matches the riddle we'll be one step closer to finding the Resistance. Now that I think of it there are many things that can seem to be like a blizzard but aren't. There's Fire like you said but there's also waterfalls, flower petals falling from trees, even shooting stars if you think of it. You just have to use alittle imagination. I'm going to look. It would go faster if you came down and helped me look, but if the cherry dye still seems to close to looking like blood to you, you can rumage through the upperhalf's hollows. Just use the riddle and find something that could possibly relate to it."
Cleef dived off the branch once again and disappeared into the trunk.
(OCC: You now have tthree choices. A: Follow Cleef into the trunk. You may discover more of the riddle faster. B: Rumage through the upperhalf's hollows. They're already a wreak so the owls wouldn't mind and it may even discover something faster then following Cleef. C: Wait were you are. It will be slower. but at least you'll be able to ask any passing owls for help. Cleef would understand once you told him the purpose of standing there. He may even tell you good thinking.)

Tinker looks mildly surprised by Cleef's suddenness, but after a moment he too leaps off the branch, following Cleef into the lower hollow.

While Cleef was rumaging through a pile of scrolls he heard the swish of air and then the tiny thunk of talons landing on the tree trunks floor. He turned around to see Tinker across the trunks floor. "I see you've chosen to join me down here. I've cleared out the middle to use for anything we find that relates to the riddle. Start on that side." Cleef gestured to the opposite side of the trunk. "And work your way around to the left untill you get to where I stand now." As Cleef said this he gestured the half he was telling Tinker to work on. "I'll do the same but on the opposite side. Throw anything you think relates to the riddle into the middle." Cleef started working again but turned back around. "Also Tinker, It may be wise to find at least a battle mask that fits fairly. I haven't an idea of whom or what we're up against." Cleef turned around and picked up a battle mask that had been laying near him. He tried it on but it didn't fit. He set it against the wall of the trunk and continued working.

Tinker shook his head. He hated battle masks. They were smelly and made it difficult to see. Nevertheless, what Cleef said was true, it would be better to be prepared. He picked up a fairly clean battle mask lying next to him and tried it on. The beak on the mask was too short and the face too squished. Tinker tossed it over to Cleef. "Here, try this on, it's too small for me." Tinker then turns towards the wall and starts digging.

Cleef caught the mask and looked at it. It was made of bronze, a fairly strong metal and light weight. It had seen a few fights, judging by the scratches and dings in it. Cleef tried it on and found that it fit fair enough a little tight but acceptable. He could see a bit of the mask hanging over his eyes, indicating that the Barn owl it belonged to had lower set eyes, but it would do. Cleef then looked at Tinker. "Not the mask I left at my storage hollow." Cleef said this with a little laugh in his voice "But in any case nice find Tinker." He said this with sincerity and started to work once again.
After about a minute Cleef found another mask. It was bigger than his bronze mask but didn't appear to dwarf it. He looked at Tinker then back to the mask judging the size finally he gave his results. "Try this one Tinker." Cleef tossed the mask. "It may be a little big but I think it may do." Cleef continued working after saying this. He kept his mask on since he'd put it back on anyway.

Tinker reached out to grab the mask. He fumbled the catch, and the mask hit the floor loudly. When Tinker picked it up, he saw that it was completely unharmed. It was a shiny grey and very light, although exactly what metal it was he couldn't pinpoint, perhaps even something he'd never heard of before. He put the mask on. It was a bit large, but it fit well and his vision was only minimally obstructed. He took the mask off and set it to one side, rationalizing to himself that he would be able to search better with it off. In his gizzard, though, he knew he just hated wearing it.
