(O.o did someone take away the shadow thinggy for our pictures? It was cool!)
Tioren was a bit taken off because Kyran acted fine. It was good that she told how she felt, but really weird not expressing it. A million thoughts kept striking Tioren over, such as if she could get food, or... "Um... what about Canis? He said he was coming back soon... Whoa. Uh, Kyran, wouldn't it be bad if you can't see anything, but he already proposed....... yeah, never mind." The 'cool as the ocean' look on Kyran's face was hard to find different from her 'I'm in pain please help and also I'll act normal for now wich means very happy' face. Tioren shuddered a bit, wondering what to do. "Should I get you and I some food?"

(Really? You thought it was cool? I found it annoying... Anywho, back to the RP)
Kyran wilfed. She had forgotten about Canis for a while and now Tioren had brought him up again. She missed him so much and since he was gone she had felt very empty, like there was a big whole in her gizzard. Kyran just tilted her head up at Tioren (since she can't see she might as well look like she's looking at her) and said "I'm fine, we'll have a snack later. Besides, your wing..." "The two of us are wounded," Kyran thought. "I need to overcome my blindness and Tioren needs to get stronger. We'll have to work together." After that thought everything changed.
After Kyran said it was ok, Tioren took the patches off of her eyes. Kyran opened her eyes for the first time in a week. She hoped that she wasn't blind but as soon as Tioren took off the patches, everything was completely dark. Kyran sighed. She knew that she would be blind but she couldn't accept it until now. She decided that she would find another way to 'see'. Of course, it wouldn't be actual sight, she would use her other senses to help her. A few days after the patches came off, Kyran's abilities to hear, feel, and smell became a LOT stronger. A week after that Kyran started practicing branching and a little bit of flying while Tioren watched her. She was getting much better.

Tioren could tell Kyran was now blind. Over and over in her head every day, she kept thinking: I would switch, it should be me... We're both disabled now... I would switch... Knowing she couldn't do anything, she watched Kyran practicing over the days. It seemed sad, and Kyran seemed to be waiting for Cameron to come back. Maybe he could teach both of them how to fly better, but it would be heartbreaking to find Kyran there, blind and as useless as Tioren, a true fact. Tioren would sometimes flutter after Kyran once she got better with senses, mostly common sense.

(This next part is something my friend told me about. Therefore I wouldn't call it a rip-off.)
After Kyran's senses and flight got a lot stronger, she started noticing something. Every time she felt a vibration when someone moved she 'saw' them. It was hard to explain. It wasn't really seeing but she knew what was happening at least. She tried to focus more on this skill and soon she could do a few things on her own. As for Tioren, well, she was getting a lot stronger. Kyran had given her a few tips and now her flying was better. Not like the average owl yet but better. The two were growing stronger with each others' help. It had been 4 weeks since Kyran became blind.
Canis saw the Great Tree as he flew over the Sea of Hoolemere and was very excited to see Kyran. He had worked very hard on this gift and hoped that Kyran would like it. He flew into his hollow and cleaned himself up. It had been a long journey and he had gotten pretty dirty. As soon as he was done with that he swooped out of his hollow and went searching for Kyran. He flew into her hollow and saw her sitting alone in her nest. Kyran's vibration senses had become great but for some reason, she didn't quite recognize this owl's vibration. It definitely was not Tioren, it seemed... male. He seemed familiar but she couldn't figure out who it was. "I'm back," Canis said hoping that Kyran was happy to see him. Of course, he didn't know about her disability yet. As soon as he spoke Kyran knew who he was. "Canis?" she said with happiness in her voice. Canis flew over to Kyran and looked into her eyes. "Um, yes." he said feeling more than a bit awkward. Kyran then realized that he had no idea that she was blind. "You can stop staring at me now. I'll tell you why I haven't moved. I don't know exactly where you are." she said. Canis looked at her oddly. "Um,why not?" he asked confused. Then Kyran explained everything to him. His eyes filled with tears. "You- you mean you're blind?" he asked. Kyran nodded. "It's all my fault. I should have come back sooner." he said quietly. "You shouldn't blame yourself, I should have been more careful. This happened only a few days after you left. Don't worry, I'm fine." Kyran said touching her wing to his face. She then explained about her vibration skill and he felt better. "I'll help you from now on. You can't do a lot of things right?" he asked. Kyran nodded. Then Canis looked at her again and realized he hadn't given her the gift yet. "Oh! By the way, this is what I made for you." he said handing her a box.She opened it and there was a book inside. "Um, no offense but how am I supposed to read this?" she asked. He looked at her and smiled. "This was our favorite book from the retreat. I made an exact copy of the one that was there and I added my voice to it. So, in hindsight I guess it was a good thing I added that recorder." he said. "Every time you turn to a page, my voice will be reading the book." he said proudly. Kyran looked up at him and smiled. Then she hugged him after trying to find him with her senses. He hugged her back. "I love it." she said.
Kyran and Canis got married and the two moved into a family hollow. Kyran gave her old hollow to Tioren and everyday she went to visit her. Tioren has become Kyran's best friend and the two do everything together. Canis now gives both girls lessons on how to fly better. "Ok Tioren, you need a little more height and a little more balance on your port side. Perfect!" Canis said while Tioren started flying. Now it was Kyran's turn to fly. "Ok Kyran, you need to tilt your head up higher so that you can see-" Kyran glared at him as he said see. Canis looked down embarrassed. "Nyeh!" he thought as he saw her eyes flash with anger. "Sorry, I'm not used to this yet. It's only been a few days since I came back." he said scratching the branch where he perched with his talons. Kyran looked at him with her normal, shiny amber eyes again. "Well get used to it. I've had enough with the 'seeing' and the 'looking'. I mean can't you owls understand I'm blind!" she said. Canis looked at her with sorry eyes. She sighed. "It's ok, lets get on with the lessons." Kyran said.

(Hakuna matata)
Tioren giggled at Canis's mistake. It was easier to make one with the new change anyhow. When looking down at Canis's emberassed face, she swooped downwards and caught herself, flying back up to Kyran. "You two are a laughing stock. Let's just fly for a bit! A joy flight." Tioren swooped again, flying around Canis and then circling wide in the air. She felt more free after the bit of lessons, finally able to have progress and strength together. Everything seemed to move fast, the time, other owls, even prey! Now that Tioren was getting better, she felt like going on a glorious adventure every day.

(Haha, good one.)
Kyran couldn't help but laugh as well. How many times had he made this mistake since he was back? "Love is a wonderful thing." she thought. Canis flew up to Kyran. "It's time for me to go to Silverveil to heal those wounded owlets. I'll be back tomorrow. See-" he stopped mid sentence. Kyran shot him another look and then giggled. "Sorry! I'm going to leave now." he said and flew off. Kyran flew up to Tioren. "Lets go on a short flight adventure!" she said and the two flew off. Tioren seemed to be enjoying being able to fly normally. Actually, she was getting better than plain normal. Kyran turned her head to her and churred. "Hey Ti, watch this!" she said and did 2 flips while flying. The two owls loved flying normally and in such happiness, one can't help but laugh.

Tioren smiled in awe at what Kyran could do. She tried to copy the movements but flipped back up before crashing into Kyran. "Whoops! I shouldn't do that." She laughed again and flew up higher. She dived down and tilted back, swooping back up and repeating it again and again, bobbing up and down from Kyran. "Don't you just love it? Being so high and staying free from trafficking down below? I wonder how the other owls are doing..." Tioren knew she was friends with no owls other than Kyran and Canis, but it was always good to keep up with others. She playfully swayed from side to side in the air, looking around at the scenery and gleefully sighing. Her gizzard felt light and she felt swift, a miracle for Tioren, just the one that she wished for after the storm.

Kyran churred after Tioren crashed into her. "It's okay. I only went blank for a second. By what your vibration said, I'd say you need a little more weight on your starboard side and a little more focus on what's ahead." she said. Tioren and her had become the best of friends in such a short time. How had this friendship bloomed so quickly? Fate was a funny thing. Kyran watched as Tioren swayed from side to side. Kyran sighed. Her blindness had given her many things but it had also taken away a few things. She wished that she could see the moon pouring it's light on everyone and glowing with it's wonderful splendor. "There's no time for regrets! This blindness has given me (oddly) happiness and I won't waste it!" she thought and flew with Tioren. The two best friends flew playfully together until the sun came into full shine.

Tioren gave a small yawn and glided with Kyran. She didn't want to admit being tired, but it was funny that sleeping seemed an ages ago thing. "Hey, Kyran, are you getting tired at all?" Tioren looked back at the rising sun and yawned again. "Yeah, I've been slightly distracted for a while...

The sun was coming up and one could see a sliver of it on the sky line. The warmth of this great ball of gas comforted Kyran and she felt sleepy. Suddenly, rays of sunshine blasted through the sky although the poor, blind owl couldn't see them. It was a sight to behold and the dancing rays looked almost like a rainbow. Kyran yawned as well."Well, yes. Let's go back to our hollows. Actually, why don't you stay for the day at mine? Canis isn't here and if you wanted you could come. Tomorrow night is my birthday. Did you know?" she said between yawns. She did one more flip and then she launched onto a warm draft with Tioren by her side and the draft carried them both back to the Great Ga'Hoole Tree whose vines were beginning to turn a bright golden as Summer came near.

Tioren followed Kyran, no looking back at the sun. "Yeah, it would be great to go to your place. What do you think I am, a rock?! Of course I knew your birthday was tomorrow! She smiled and did a few small dives. It seemed like a lot of things were happening at once, good and bad. Maybe Kyran didn't know when Tioren's birthday was, but that was because she never uttered anything personal. Actually, not very many knew her birthday. If they did, they forgot by now. Tioren gave herself a smile, one less reassuring since Kyran became blind. It was new, different, so design wasn't going to be about fashion anymore- for Kyran, anyways. Others would be more than overjoyed at fashion the was it was brought out. Tioren kept in the back of her mind that she had to make something different.

Kyran smiled. She could feel Tioren smile as well. "How did I get lucky enough to have a friend like you Tioren?" Kyran asked. She truly did feel lucky though. In the short time that the two had been friends, they had been through so much together. Kyran reviewed all the memories in her mind as the two of them flew back to the Great Tree. She sighed. "What surprises would tomorrow bring? Would Canis be back for her birthday? What would she do?" All these thoughts ran through Kyran's head over and over. When Tioren and Kyran finally reached the hollow they settled into their nests for a well deserved rest. When Tioren fell asleep, Kyran sat in her nest with no thoughts in her mind. She simply sat there.(And of course she wasn't staring at the sun.)
When Kyran woke up the next night she sat up in her nest turning her head in all directions trying to sense some movement. She felt Tioren's vibration as she breathed in and out but was there anything else? Kyran sat in her nest waiting for Tioren to wake up.

Tioren could feel Kyran moving around while locked in her own nightly nightmare. She was back in the storm again, or at least one similar. Everyone she knew and had seen before was flying around her, her mother not even one of them. It seemed like they were all going into battle against no one, but they seemed to be going away from their home. Everyone just flying around in one group, away from what they said was dangerous, but some of them were happy to be in a storm with no where to go. In the moment of her thinking why would they even be happy?, it was the only thought she had in the center between asleep and waking up before staring around next to Kyran, back in the newer hollow. Kyran was already awake, and it took Tioren a minute to register where she was and what was going on. It felt like everything was failing, so maybe doing an opposite sleeping pattern once in a while was good to prevent having a moon blink again like before. Tioren said to Kyran, "Hello, Kyran... are you doing well right now?"

Kyran tilted her head up to Tioren. "I'm just fine Ti." she said with a smile. Although she looked happy on the outside, worry and sadness ate at her gizzard. "How long until Canis comes back? Will this birthday even be exciting? After all, I have lost my sight. I live near what I hate. Those thorns on the tree." she thought and seemed to turn her head to the outside of her hollow to remember what had happened when she became blind. "The thorns, the ones that took my light." she thought. That was Kyran's favorite saying for her becoming blind. The ones that took my light was the saying that seemed to fit, at least, that was her opinion. Kyran then turned her head back to Tioren. "Really, I am fine." she said and smiled while her beautiful amber eyes shimmered. She didn't want to worry Tioren, her best friend. Everything had been moving so fast lately, she hadn't had much time to think. This was good in this case though because now, as Kyran thought, she became sad. If her faced showed the way she felt right now, well, it would be depressing. She thought she had overcome these feelings about losing her sight but apparently not. Kyran pushed these thoughts out of her mind. She wanted to be happy and she didn't want these thoughts to bug her anymore. "Sight is a silly sense anyway. If you focus more on other senses instead of vision you can do much better." she thought. This was what she thought when she needed to forget about her vision. This was actually true in her case though. After Kyran had lost her sight, she had become much stronger.
Kyran tilted her head at Tioren again. "Let's go have some tweener." she said and flew out of the hollow with Tioren at her side. Maybe her favorite food would be prepared. With her luck it probably wouldn't be but what was the harm in hoping?

"This is fine with me. My first surprise is there already, anyways!" She chittered all of this very gleefully, noting all that Kyran had said. After a silent minute, she stated, "Yes, even if one sense is gone, except for your gizzard holding the feelings, you can keep on going forever. If you're crushed by horrible feelings or literally, try to keep going..." She started to sound like she was talking to herself. "Well, don't you like the sun sometimes when you're not tired, or when you try to change your sleep pattern? I think it's beautiful to get a glimpse of it from the corner of your eye." Tioren started murmuring to herself, possibly talking about... well, anything.
