Frivolous clouds roll over mountain high, her winds chiming a foreboding melody; something is about to begin...
Even now an ominous gray is sweeping laggardly into her trickling valleys and streams reaching out to her gilded peaks with a rueful mist. A mist that veils the deformities of this region and keeps the sun from embracing her, surely in such a place not all is what it seems. Dusk gleams on the covering like the finest silk before melding into darkness sketched only by the northern most star.
Part 1: Deadline to post is July 3rd
-Please post the how and why you’re owl(s) ended up here. Remember not all characters need to be brought in at once. As this is the first part I will not be giving path options just yet but please be aware that they will come into play for the remainder of the event. On a similar note I will not be posting in character until said paths are open. For those who do not know a path is when an incident is given with A) B) C) options for the character(s) to take.

Kyran sat on a perch outside of a hollow in the Forest of Ambala. She had come here to take a break from the tree for a little while and because she had felt an urge to. She didn't know why though. She felt the cool breeze wash down on her like waves from the sea. Then there was a large gust that, instead of bringing a relaxed feeling as the breeze had, brought discomfort upon Kyran. She squirmed a bit and then settled again. Something big is about to happen, she thought. I can just feel it in my gizzard. She flew back into her hollow as the winds grew fiercer.

[Ardi] Ardi swept over Ambala quietly, since he and Nyra had been discovered lately, he was on two missions, scan the area for more owls, to know who is around. Secondly was to search for potential hollows and clearings to move to in case the owl that had found them tries to come back. There was a mighty mist in the area, which was terribly unusual for Ambala. Ardi knew something was amiss, he just could not put his talon on it. Ardi lighted down in an empty hollow and wondered what was going on. Ardi merely had a passing thought of going back to Nyra, but his mind did not work like that, it had to know what was going to happen.

[Nymphadora/Nyra]
Nyra stared at the grey of the sky and thought Something isn't quite right. I can feel something wrong around here. Something's going to happen. Something big, something scary. Where had Ardi gone a little while ago? Could it be that he had also ventured to this place? Nyra felt a chill run down her spine and through her bones. These winds are getting stronger. she thought. Just as this thought went through her mind, the wind made her lose balance and she flew got tossed backwards. Unable to help herself, her back slammed into a tree.
Nyra got up and took in the pain. Lucky for her she was tough so she hadn't broken any bones. She flinched as she got up. Then she dusted herself off and attempted to fly again. She launched into the sky and flew low so that she wouldn't stress the muscles on her back. As she flew she saw a hollow. She settled onto a perch outside the hollow and looked in to see if it was empty. She blinked. There was a great horned in there but there wasn't a nest or anything else inside. No, this isn't any great horned, this is Ardi! Nyra thought. "Ardi?" she said questionably. What was he doing here?

Silent wings full of joy at her recent visit ro her family, the young ryb landed on a thick, knotty, seemingly abandoned tree. The thick bark scratched satisfyingly aginst her feet which had been curled in the standard flight position that all owls, and even most birds in general, did. What a lovely evening to rest, she thought peacefully.
Even though her family did not live in Ambala, she sometimes overestimated how long her journeys would take when she left to see her brother, Kaven, up in the northern part of the Shadow Forest. She would have gladly stayed with him for the extra day, but he had mate and a nest full of hatchlings and didn't need another owl crowding his hollow so she had decided to visit the place she went most infrequently: Ambala.
All at once, the peaceful night in Ambala turned... spooky. She, being the Ga'Hoology ryb and also the teacher of Owl Studies: Gizzard Matters, was always the first to trust her gizzard; right now, hers felt like ice. She could practically feel the frost crystals glittering ruefully inside her sensitive organ. "Oh, this doesn't feel right..." she fretted, but didn't want to just take off again. It had been a long day of flying from the Island of Ga'Hoole, over Silverveil to the farthest point of the Shadow Forest, all the way through down over the Barrens, then down to Ambala. Her wings, as always, were fit to fly, but her mind was travel-weary.
So, instead of taking off again, she simply shuffled closer to the tree trunk and tried, and failed due to her gloriously pale coat, to make herself invisible.

OOC // I can't be bothered to find my post table right now, so enjoy Cam frowned, his wings scarecely pumping as he rode the breeeze through Ambala. He was a little paranoid; not being able to see your left side could do that to an owl; and he disliked carving a path through such an unfamiliar place without a guide. Ambala... The very name seemed foreign, too round.
A single powerful wingbeat shot him forward in a burst of speed, the snowy fanning his tailfeathers and carefully ruddering himself around trees. It wasn't as if it was strange for him to be out; Cam frequently left the tree in search of song, of fresh music he could use to liven up his performances. Some trips were more sucsessful than others, though, and this one was proving to be terrible. He hadn't seen another creature large or small the entire time he'd been here.
Oh, he was a long way from home, and so when he abruptly noticed that the world had gone dead and grey around him he had a slight jolt. The fog had surprised him, both in its slow unexpectedness; and in the moisture it carried. Visibility effectively cut to zero, he gave another pound of his wings and - oh, Glaux how he hoped his gizzard was right! - dropped several feet to where he sensed there was a branch.
His faith in himself was rewarded by a jolt and the firm texture of old, worn wood against his talons. And there he stayed; for a moment anyways, swiviling his head like mad to see around him. Something was wrong, so very very wrong and disconcerting, and he didn't like it one bit. Something was out there. A hagsfiend? No, couldn't be... But then again...
The singer adjusted his grip on the tree, almost kneading it as a cat might for comfort. It would be better to wait here for the feeling to pass than it would be to continue on and risk being assulted by anything from other birds, to maybe even a lynx - he had no idea how close the ground was and even less of an idea if the stupid things could climb trees.

[Ardi] Ardi churred lightly, which was all he could muster under such strange circumstances. "I knew you'd arrive sooner or later" he said to Nyra. Peering outside, a growing doubt that this was just weather had settled in. "Sorry for not getting back, just that this weather is unnatural, it doesn't fit in". Ardi knew that Nyra would have the same feeling, it was just something he knew in his gizzard. No animal in its right mind could pass off this fog as normal. Unless, of course, there was an animal, that had caused it...
That was unlikely, and Ardi hoped that if something of that sort did exist, it stayed far away from this creation.

[Nymphadora/Nyra]
Nyra blinked. "Odd seeing you here. Do you have the same feeling as me about that fog?" Nyra said staring at the clouds, then looking back at Ardi. "It feels like something big, something scary is about to happen. I can feel it in my gizzard." she said in a bit of a worried voice. "Do you think that this will affect our project?" she whispered as she came into the hollow. Things are about to get bad, really bad. Nyra thought as she waited for Ardi's response.

Ironically enough, she had become invisible simply because her feathers, which were usually so detrimental to the goal of hiding in secrecy, swirled right in to become one with the terrible, choking fog that shrouded her. The forest was too silent, although it may have been her imagination... Did she hear voices? Scrooms? she thought fearfully. She had never doubted they exist, not in the slightest, but that didn't mean she was any less terrified of a restless owl soul wandering Earth with unfinished business.
She nearly let out a loud, terrified, whooping scream signature to Barred owls when the branch she had settled on shuddered with sudden weight. Idiot, scrooms don't have and weight. they don't have any substance! she berated herself mentally. Creeping forward slowly, she peered through the peculiar mist, hoping to catch a glimpse of her branch-mate who likely had no idea she was there.
To her surprise, and great relief, she found herself staring straight into a friendly face. "Cam," she hooted softly so as not to frighten the singer, keeping to the left side of his face so he could see right away who she was. "I'm surprised to see you here, so far from the tree." The young ryb explained casually to the young owl. She was glad to have someone to share the evening with, to wait out this creepy weather with someone she could trust. Nothing was nearly half as terrifying as when you faced it alone.

[Ardi] Ardi churred nervously. "I don't think it will cause too much trouble" he decided. Ardi looked into the sky, and noticed something that chilled his hollow bones. "Thats creepy, the sky is clear everywhere else around us right now". He scanned the trees for hollows, or owls. "I wonder who else might be seeing this" he wondered aloud. This could be an interesting event to experience, it would make for a great weather phenomenon at the least possible, he thought. Then again, it might be something Ardi would have to survive first.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=80c4bd]A ghost white face sat inside of a hollow in the Forest of Ambala, watching the sky. His face frowned and but his body strong and slim, perfectly fit for a warrior.Behind him were a few eggs from the Forest of Tyto and a few soldiers that had accompanied him on his short trip. He was supposed to be back at the Pure Ones by now but the weather had held him back. As he sat at the edge of the hollow he saw dark clouds looming in the sky and the winds were as fierce as ever. "Those winds look pretty bad, but we need to get back so what in racdrops are we supposed to do?" he said still staring at the cool gray of the sky.
Suddenly Tytus saw 2 owls talking on the edge of another hollow. Using his keen hearing abilities, he figured out what they were saying. "I'm surprised to see you here, so far from the tree." The tree? Do they mean the Great Tree? he thought. His eyes turned fierce. The mere mention of that horrid place lit his anger like a candle. But I have to stay quiet. Picking a fight with those idiots wouldn't be worth it and I hate it when I don't get a good brawl. he thought. He was tired of sitting around and waiting for the weather to clear up after waiting for hours and hours. "Come on guys! Let's get out of here!" he said and thrust himself out of the hollow with an egg in each of his talons. Tytus silently and gracefully glided in the sky. Nothing could hold this guy back. Especially not the weather.
As he flew, he saw 2 other owls. They didn't seem to be from the Great Ga'Hoole Tree judging by what he heard them talking about. If their not from that filthy place then they're good owls. It's too bad that they're not any kind of barn owl. They could've made decent soldiers. he thought and flew on. The weather was getting worse and he was off balance. Lucky for him he was a great flier and could easily fix flight problems like being off balance or having a broken tail shaft. Tytus ruddered and shifted over to a higher altitude. His balance was easily restored and so he flew on without any worries. He hated this weather but the thought of going back to his dear Belzaphei cleared his thoughts and made his flying instantly effortless.
After flying for maybe a few hours, he landed on the land that belonged to the Pure Ones. He put the eggs that he had collected, into new nests and plucked some down from his breast to keep them warm. Then he flew over to his own nest and settled down for a nice, long nap. He forgot about the weather in Ambala even though he might go back tonight and he drifted off to sleep without a thought in his head. | |

The forest grew still, her spirits mourning the owls fleeting chance to escape their fates. The owls were now entwined with an uncertain and rocky destiny.
Eight winged serpentines of emerald and crimson grew increasingly daring as they circled Ambala in search of... something. They seemed to be attracted to bright breaks in the fog, more so than the Strigiformes gathering below. Their blazing leers acted as radars; missing not the most minuscule of lightning bugs.
All this is dreadfully confusing, perhaps the beginnings of puzzling this together lay with what they are seeking? If you were to squint and look towards the horizon you would notice that it has been delayed; a feverish beam kissing the edges of yonder. Ah yes but you are not one to be caught off guard are you? For those with eyes as large as the full moon your vision is broadened allowing you to discern a dim light due east. Will you...A.) Go towards the horizon B.) Investigate the East Choose A or B, you may not pick neither or both. Different characters may take different paths. Please give your answer below your post in bold. DEADLINE July 17

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=80c4bd] Tytus emerged from his nest sleepily. His eye-lids drooped as his tired feeling passed through his body and face. He looked at his dear mate with sheer love and happiness. She was the only one that understood him and he loved that most about her. He carefully rubbed his facial disk against her's. I don't have any plans for tonight so maybe I'll stay here. Or maybe I'll take another trip to raid nests in the Forest of Tyto. You can never have enough of those little barn owl eggs and owlets. Plus Belzaphei loves the owlets. he thought and decided he would go. "I'll be back soon Belzaphei, don't worry." he said gently and flew over to his soldiers' nests on the other side of the Pure Ones' land. "Wake up guys!" he said shaking the owls awake. "We're going back to the Forest of Tyto today to get more eggs and owlets. Now come on!" he said and flew off. His soldiers followed looking as tired as ever.
As Tytus and his soldiers flew, he felt something odd in the air as they were passing through Ambala. What is that? he thought and there was a tremor in his gizzard. He kept flying. I'm not scared of a little feeling. he thought and tightened his gizzard. Then his gizzard shook a little harder as if there was an earthquake inside of him. That's not good.he thought and landed in a pine tree's hollow. As he watched the sky he wilfed as he felt the forest grow still. Something was coming, from the east and it didn't feel pleasant. Everything suddenly feels suspended. he thought as he stared at the sky. He watched it as if, if his eyes turned away even for a second, something terrible would happen. Then he saw what was making his gizzard shake. What in racdrops is that frinkin thing? he thought as he caught sight of eight winged serpents circling in the sky.
All of a sudden, he grew brave. He increased in size and seemed to be two times his normal size. "I'm going to go investigate the east! Now who's with me?" he said and on a spur of moment, he shot out of the hollow with his soldiers following. He was headed for the east and nothing could stop him. Maybe a few good fights lie ahead. he thought and grew excited. "Let's go!" he shouted and glided to the east. His wings flapped hard because there was no warm draft to carry him on this cool day. It was almost First Black and the sun was setting. There was a cool breeze in the air and it felt good as it hit Tytus's face. He shivered a little bit as it went over a wound on his wing that he had gotten a few days ago. His third eye-lid, as it is sometimes called, slid across his eye to keep dirt in the air, from blocking his vision. Then he flew on, unknowing of what lay ahead.
Answer: B.) Investigate the East

[Ardi] Ardi froze, "What is that?"he asked, pointing the the figures high in the air to the east. Backing into the hollow slightly, he tried to make out their shapes. Realizing how big these things were, Ardi wilfed slightly, but then returned to normal size. "I see how today is heading with this crazy fog". Ardi turned to Nyra, "How should we go about those things?" he asked. Ardi just then noticed what had happened on the horizon, "Oh, we are so dead".

[Nyra]
Nyra wilfed as she saw eight-winged serpents circling in the sky. As she heard Ardi's last comment she gave a hoot of discomfort. But he's right. How are we supposed to get rid of those things? she thought. For once she didn't have any ideas and she was scared. Ardi, protect me! she thought and scooched behind him, still deflated from her wilf. She had never seen creatures like these before. Didn't mum once talk about flying snakes? she thought. Maybe this is what a flying snake looks like. she thought and turned to Ardi. She returned to her normal size and said "I think that these are what's called flying snakes. If they bite you once it can be very deadly and hard to stop the poison. They're the one thing I fear. I say that we try to dodge them and head for the horizon." She paused for a second and then said "You can come with me or stay. But, I'm going either way." And with that said, she walked out of the hollow and took off.
Answer: A) Go towards the horizon
