Name: Alvara
Gender: Female
Age: Fourty-eight moons
Species: Short-eared Owl - Asio flammeus
Kingdom: Ambala
Position: Healer
Length: 42 cm
Wingspan: 107 cm
Weight: 465g
Personality: Proper and regal, Alvara prides herself on keeping and even temper even in dire situations. She carries herself with an air of calm nobility, speaking when spoken to, her words typically soft and eloquent. With a passion for learning, she is considered well-versed on taught topics, from the behaviors of other types of owls to the history of the Kingdoms. Gentle by nature, she knows little about how to fight beyond hunting prey, and a somewhat perfectionist nature can make her slower to get things done than some other owls.
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
History: Born in the forest kingdom of Ambala, Alvara's nest was located in a scrape built into the roots of a pine tree on the edge of a forest, overlooking a grassland. Alvara's family was part of a communal roost of various owl species, as well as other friendly animals. The 'neighborhood' became a small society of its own, becoming down as the 'settlement of Pinop' to its residents. The creatures who lived here rarely left, as the area had been effectively turned into a small city, with various tradesowls living and working to sustain the close-knit society. As was normal in the society, when owlets came of the age of understanding, they were allowed to choose a trade to follow, and would apprentice under a master of that trade until they were adults.
Coming from a clutch of seven, Alvara came of age at about the same time as the rest of her siblings. One by one, each sibling went off on their own to begin their training under various mentors, living in group nestings with other students. Eventually, Alvara too left the nest, and became a student under a healer by the name of Wibeke, who was a large, old eagle owl. Despite her somewhat intimidating stare, Wibeke was strict, but not cruel. Her teaching method was direct, purposeful, and no-nonsense. Those that caused trouble were kicked out. Those that did not would learn that while Wibeke was a tough teacher, she was a good owl, going out of ehr way to help the good but struggling students, and praising those eager to learn.
Alvara, while willing to learn, was often one of the ones struggling, not because she couldn't understanding the teachings, but because it would take her longer to complete tasks as she tried to just them just right. Wibeke was patient with her, though, and Alvara did graduate from her tutelage, even if it was a bit behind the other students in her healing class. On the day she graduated, she still didn't leave, and instead insisted on becoming Wibeke's assistant. The old owl gradually relented, and Alvara worked alongside her for two years, until the old owl perished. Wibeke left Alvara her practice, who has since begun teaching healing to the owlets ofh er community alongside two assistants of her own.
IC: Three slippery elm leaves, juiced. A talonfull of finely crushed fenugreek, and a beakfull of flaxseed oil. No more, no less. Add hot water to turn fenugreek into paste, then add oils. Mix until one cohesive liquidy paste. Keep in a cool, somewhat moist area. The steps her hummed under the owl's breath as she worked, following each to the letter. Good for inflammation, a lot of owlets have allergies this year.. Alvara would let out a soft sigh. She had been making batches of his poultice all day. A few broods of owlets became allergic to the bites of bugs living in the trees. They needed this remedy, and she was happy to provide it. It was merely tiring work.
Her assistants off gathering more herbs, Alvara was left alone to work, flitting around her workspace, mixing multiple poultices at one. This one for inflammation, and other of yellow dock and dandelion to treat rashes. Miss Belkey hasn't been applying her ointment to that rash, or it would be gone by now. Pacing across the floor, she'd stop by a pot of water, heated on a bit full of red coals. Scooping out a ladle of water, she'd add it to another container of what appeared to be a white powder, the water re-hydrating it into a paste. For numbing painful spots to make application easier.. Always good for owlets, as they tended to squirm and whine. A lot of work still to do..

Strengths:
- Kind -- Gentle of heart, Alvara puts the well-being of others in very high regard.
- Intelligent -- With an interest in knowledge and the written word, Alvara is well-versed on a variety of bookish topics.
- Refined -- She carries herself in a proper manner, refraining from engaging in crude activities or associating herself with the low-brow and cruel.
Weaknesses:
- Not skilled in war -- She has never gotten into a fight with another owl, and she does not known how to use battle-talons, swords, or anything of that nature. The best she can do is frantically slash at people with her talons.
- Perfectionist -- With a sense of perfectionism bordering on OCD, things that would take others moments can take her hours as she tries to make it just right.
- Unassertive -- While she does enjoy chatting, she hardly ever puts forth any kind of opinion that world horribly clash with another's, and she tends not to verbally disagree with things too often.
