Name: Uriah
Gender: Male
Age: 5 Years
Species:Short-Eared Owl
Kingdom:None
Position:Hireclaw/Slipgizzle
Description/Picture:
Personality:Uriah is a secretive, reclusive, unsocialized fairly young owl. Physically fit, he has managed to outrun appearing how old he truely is, keeping a younger appearance and his fighting skills as sharp as his strategic mind. Uriah is peaceful and serene when none are around, is strong and quiet when in a group, and fierce and short-tempered when involved in a conversation. He doesn't mean to be but most times he can appear haughty, aggresive, even defensive or insecure. Anything and everyone has the chance of getting on his nerves and though he tries to contain his frustration and anger, it fails...horribly. Uriah goes on through life trying to stay alive and keep his family safe, avoiding any conflicts he can.. He has little patience with others and often displays an ill-temper, but never engages in fights unless he really has to, not that he won't give someone who deserves it a good thrashing. Though he is tough on the outside, Uriah enjoys the companying of those who do not ask to many questions or do otherwise to get on his nerves. There will be times where he knows when to hold his tongue and not say a word. Yet a single look in his eyes can also speak his words. He will seldom argue back and he can pick his battles just fine, knowing many ways to disable a owl. He knows how to live on his own and he doesnt need anyone looking out for him. Uriah ADORES owlets and loves them because they do not judge.
Strengths: As a Short-Eared Owl, Uriah as no problem flying in daylight, which is more of an advantage against other owls and helps him get his job completed. He is accomplished vole-specialist and knows where to find them and other prey. Even though his wingbeats aren't as regular as other owls, he flies with deep slow strokes that give him powerful flight and knows how to use currents and drafts, almost able to see them out before him by feeling the change on his feathers.
Weaknesses: Uriah has the capability to show great amounts of affection, but because of fear for his family, he holds himself back and has become bitter. He is quick to become insulted and aggitated and won't hesistate to defend his name and causes. He doesn't like speakign with those who question him, unwilling to speak about his job as a hireclaw for the Pure Ones, insecure and afriad that others will push him aside or do something to cause his family harm.
History: Uriah was raised in Ambala, living a life of rich prey, loving parents, and perfectly bothering siblings whom he couldn't help love. It was a good life, a perfect like, an ideal life for an owl. But all that was shattered soon after he had prepared to leave the nest.
Rumors had been going around about an ancient evil, stolen owlets, and bloody battlefields littered with the bodies of owls lain in armour. Disturbed but not deterred, Uriah continued on with life, living in solitude as a hireclaw for anyone that needed a fair job done, weither it be transport or collection. Eventually he fell in love with a fellow Short-Eared Owl named Gwyn. As it goes with owls in love, the two soon had a clutch of 3 eggs and little chicks eager to learn about the world. Not 2 moons after their birth, however, evil owls with red stained fur invaded their hollow and took captive the owlets and his dear mate. Uriah fought his best, but he was far outnumbered and was on his belly watching as his family being dragged away screaming. A barn owl, pure tyto, flew in and spoke to the owl, eyes hard and cold as he proposed a deal he couldn't refuse, having heard the rumors of Uriahs work. Uriah must be the Pure Ones slipgizzle to find information of the St. Aegolius' loyalty to them and desploit the plans of the Guardians. In exchange, he would get his family back...alive. Until his job was done, they would be in the Pure Ones talons.
Of course, the father had no choice but to agree. Since that day 2 years go he has not seen his family, only permitted to hear them behind cold stone walls. Anytime he has tried to save them, they were punished and he was forced to listen as feathers ripped from wings. Eventually, Uriah gave up, promising to win back their freedom by completing his assignment. His hatred towards the Pure Ones grows every day, every second, but he knows in order to ensure his familys safety, he must comply or they will not live to see another night..
IC: He was above the desert of Kuneer, endless shifting dunes of orange and golden sand, not a drop of water nor a swath of shade. Any creature to dare reside here was completely yoicks...yet somehow owls and bats alike found ways to survive. How they did so was beyond the black-streaked owls contemplation. But he wasn't here to find out the survival of desert species. Uriah was on a mission, a mission he didn't want to be in but had no choice. His family's lives depended on his success here.
With moth-like wingbeats, the Short-Eared owl traveled powerfully alone through the white spotted infinitly blue sky, a scroll held tightly within his talons, yellow eyes roving about the canyons and hills of the vast Kuneer. There was supposedly a Pure One hideout based within one of the canyons and he needed to find it before night fell, everything he lived for rode on this little rolled up paper. He knew not was within, he only knew that the High Tyto wanted it given to his desert followers. His eyes narrowed at the thought of that smug barn owls face, a scowl writing across his own. Uriah hated that owl with all his being and the thought of wrapping his talons around that white neck of his and draining out his life slowly...painfully...
The faintest sound of tearing jolted the bulky owl from his fantasy and he realized his black talons were actually gripping the scroll so tightly it began to rip. With a gruff sigh, Uriah loosened his claws and focused back on the canyons below. Soon...soon he would win his family's freedom...and get his revenge...
