Name: Kerne
Gender: Male
Age: Twenty-eight moons
Species: Northern Hawk Owl - Surnia ulula
Kingdom: Northern
Position: Rogue
Length: 40 cm
Wing length: 25 cm
Weight: 326g
Personality: Confident and quick-witted, Kerne is not one to back down to either a physical or a intellectual debacle. he loves nothing more than interacting with others, in both a positive and negative way. It doesn't matter to him, an enemy is as valuable as a friend as long as he considers them an equal. While not the most kind of owls, he's not a naturally evil or terrible one either. His tendency to show off has earned him as many enemies as it has allies.
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
History: Hatched in the Northern Kingdoms, Kerne's first memory was opening his eyes, staring out of his cliffside nest over the Everwinter sea, the Ice Narrows visible in the distance when the frozen fog wasn't too thick. His family's nest was securely tucked into a small cave, more a weather-worn hole in the rock, on the Trident island nearest to Elsemere Island. His life as an owlet could be considered relatively normal. While his mother was out doing most of the hunting, he was raised by his father, a graduate of the Kielian Military Academy, and a member of the Kielian League. He was not an active fighter though, and was instead one of the teachers, mainly focusing on helping young owls learn to defend themselves from predators. While Kerne and his three siblings were too small to really fight, he still gave them plenty of advice and visual lessons. After Kerne's twenty-first day of life, his father returned to the Academy, to focus on his training, while his mother took over the care-taking duties once more.
Being a hawk owl, Kerne's family didn't value silent flight as much as they did fast flight and quick kills. As such, the transition from cliffing, a technique similar to branching performed on cliffsides, to flight was relatively shorter than that of other owl species. When he finally began his flight lessons, his father returned to the nest for a time to teach him and his siblings how to fight, showing them both honorable and more underhanded techniques, from fighting with talon-swords to effective ways to pull back small branches for use in traps. This period of learning caused him to spend more time with his parents than a young owl usually would, but he did eventually leave his nest to begin travelling on his own.
While he has no specific allegiance, his has joined with a few groups during his travels, even temporarily joining up with a group of kraal owls, though he tended to dislike the smell and feel of dyes in his feathers. He has since traveled to the Southern Kingdoms, and spends his time travelling between them, mostly depending on the hospitality and patience of their citizens. This tends to lend to him picking up a variety of skills from various odd-jobs he does in exchange for not being chased off of the Kingdom's territory.
IC: Gulp. Was the ocean always so far away? And so violent? A young Kerene clung to the cliffside using his talons, body pressed closely against the cool stone. Cliffing. A very important step in learning how to fly. As much as he wanted to learn, this was still scary! His father was watching he and his siblings closely as they hopped and scrabbled their way across the rocks. As he hung him place, the owlet tried to build up his confidence. he could do it. He was the biggest of his siblings.. they looked up to him! First one to hatch.. he had to do it! Taking a deep breath, he would drop from the wall and shimmy down a rock jutting out below him. Spreads his wings, he gave a little ulululu sound as he hopped from the rock to the wall below, hooking to rocks sticking out with his claws.
Eyes wrenched shut, he stayed like that for a long moment before he dared to open them again. he did it. He did it! He chirped happily, encouraged by the praise from his father and siblings. He liked that feeling. Respect. Belief. Trust in his abilities. Driven by this feeling, he eagerly attacked the rock walls, hopping up along them for a good few hours before finally returning to the cave, long after his other siblings had stopped. After all, if he could conquer this, it was only a matter of time before he mastered flying, and fighting and.. and.. all sorts of things!
The young owlet went to bed cheerful that night, feeling tough and skilled. After all, what did he have to fear? He's a hawk owl!

Strengths:
- Confident -- Sure of himself, he does not hesitate to assist with things he knows he's good at, and he's willing to put in time to learn new things, because he knows he can do it.

Weaknesses:
- Prideful -- Self-confidence has a limit, and his can often make him seem insensitive and gives the feeling that he cares more about himself than others.
- Stubborn -- He has issues taking the opinion of others and following advice given to him by those he does not like, trust, or know well enough.
- 'Insomniatic' -- As a day-hunter, he has trouble getting used to the sleep schedules of other types of owls.
