The bright sun in the sky blazed down upon everything under its harsh gaze. On the Island of Hoole was a very large tree that was the territory of a just as large number of owls. The Guardians of Ga'Hoole made their home here, and they were all currently in their respective nests, dreaming peacefully. And then there was that one empty nest.
Faylne still wasn't asleep, even though the sun was almost directly above the trees. The place was fascinating, that was for sure. She wasn't used to so many owls and all of them being so... nice. Of course, she was born into the Pure Ones, and then was sent into St. Aggie's as a Slipgizzle, so she hadn't been around many nice owls in her life.
Currently, the young Tyto Alba was exploring the great Tree of Ga'Hoole. Her old habits of spying were hard to break, seeing as how that was what she had been trained to do since... well, since she had hatched, basically. Faylne pivoted her heart-shaped face this way and that way, on the lookout in case other owls were up during this time. Anyone was bound to be curious based on the scars on her face alone.
Am I even allowed to be up? she asked herself, slightly and unconsciously shrinking back against the wall. She couldn't risk getting caught; she had just been rescued and brought here not too long ago!

OOC // Oh god, I didn't realize how long this was until after I posted it; it's one of the longest posts I've written in a long time. I'm so sorry!
Cameron hadn't meant to awaken so damn early. He'd been enjoying his sleep before his usual early-morning wake up, in which he woke the other owls; not that he disliked being up early. He enjoyed watching as the sun fell below the horizon and the sky bled with the golds and purples of the prettiest jewels, the sound of the sea washing gently against the ground below providing a calming soundtrack as he stretched his wings and began the wake-up song.
But today there was none of that, none of the gorgeous sky; instead a blazing expanse of blue and a rather ruffled looking half-blind snowy. He shifted a little in his nest, scarcely believing that his body had the audacity to betray him, to awaken before the sun had even thought about bedding down. Slowly he emerged from his hollow, and stepped out to the end of his branch, peering about. There was no indication as to why he should be awake so early, none at all; but the point was that he was up and he might as well make the best of it. With a tremendous stretch, he extended their wings to their full length, shaking the sleepiness off of them; and for just an instant, the sun caught his bleach-white feathers and he was illuminated as though he were a god.
Then, though, he shifted and began to refold his wings, and the sun moved just barely on its path through the sky, and the illusion was ruined as he launched off from his perch and, with a few powerful stokes, spiraled out around the great tree. He didn't go very far, only to the closest 'main artery' branch, and landed upon it heavily. He would at least go to get something to eat, for being up so strangely early did strange things to one's stomach; and he had started down the 'hallway' towards the kitchen when--
Something else was here.
He wasn't sure how he knew that, it was similar to the 'someone is staring at me' gizzard-feeling, but he knew that there was something else alive nearby, another owl. A slipgizzle? Perhaps. An owlet that couldn't sleep? Also a possibility. It could be any number of things, and Cam was instantly suspicious; as quietly as possible he took a few steps and tried to calm his nerves, frayed from his last excitment with the king.
Steadying himself, he popped his white head around a 'corner' and noticed, farther down the hall, what looked to be a Tyto. A young one at that, and she looked-- scared, almost. Was she a slipgizzle? Couldn't be. Slowly he came out around the corner, and in that pleasant, calm voice of his, he churred a question to the other owl. "Can't sleep?"
