Name: Keenai (Keen-eye)
Gender: Female
Age: 14 Moons
Species: Elf Owl
Kingdom: St. Aggies
Position: Orphan
Description/Picture: Keenai is a very pretty owl. Her feathers are almost perfect, each one nearly always staying in its place. Her colouring is a mixture of browns and greys, but her chest is completely white, save for a few streaks of grey. White also dots her body feathers and two eyebrow-like streaks of the same colour also occupy her face. Keenai’s eyes are a bright yellow, almost luminous. They are so bright that they seem to glow in the dark. Her small wings are mostly the same colour, but a deep scar runs along the top of both her wings.
Personality: Keenai is a very proud owl. She always likes to think she is right, whether she actually is or not. She will keep fighting to prove her point and will never give up until she has been proved wrong with enough evidence. But she does stand up for her friends and is very loyal. Keenai is also a feisty and head strong owl, confident in nearly all she does. She is also very sarcastic. Sometimes, though, she is a little too confident and gets into a lot of trouble with the higher ranking owls at St. Aggies. Keenai is also very agile in flight and on the ground.
Strengths: Confident. Very agile. Loyal.
Weaknesses: Sometimes too confident. Being so sarcastic offends quite a lot of owls and so she doesn’t have many friends. She tends to not listen to other owls opinions. Isn’t a skilled fighter.
History: Keenai hatched in the sandy desert of Kuneer along with her brother and sister. They were happy as a family, until one fateful night. Keenai’s father had gone out hunting and their mother had fallen asleep. The three hatchlings had stayed up to watch the stars, as they were all fascinated by them. But Keenai’s sister became too obsessed with the lights and she fell out of the nest in an attempt to fly to them. Keenai had woken their mother, who flew down to get their sister. But as she was searching for the hatchling, a Raiding Party from St. Aegolius flew by and spotted the unattended hatchlings in the nest. They went to capture them, but Keenai resisted. She tried to get out of their way, but there were too many and she was caught. Her resistance had caused her to be handled roughly by the owls and so she gained the deep scars along her wings. The Raiding Party took her and her brother to St. Aggies, where they attempted to Moon Blink them. Both she and her brother were unaffected by the Moon Blinking, and so they resulted to Moon Scalding. Again, her and her brother resisted and after the Moon Scalding, her brother rebelled in an attempt to escape. But he was hunted down and killed without mercy. When Keenai heard of her brother’s death, she pretended to be Moon Blinked so she would not face the same fate. She fooled, and is still fooling, all of the other owls at St. Aegolius.
IC: In a dark corner of an over-crowded room in St. Aegolius lay a young Elf Owl, fast asleep. This young owl was named Keenai.
Keenai shuffled in her sleep as she dreamt of her real family back in Kuneer. She was remembering a special night she had shared with her father and her siblings.
“You see these stars, children?” Her father said, raising a wing to point at the sky, “They will guide you when you are lost, and will give you hope when you have none.”
All three hatchlings had looked up to the sky, eyes wide in amazement. Patterns of lights decorated a black background as swirling clusters of stars filled the night one by one. Their father pointed out all of the star formations to them, and they listened intently. But soon, Keenai’s siblings drifted off to sleep along with her mother, and it was just her and her father. They sat together and as she was drifting off to sleep, her father had uttered a few words that kept her going through all the torture of St. Aegolius.
“Keenai, as long as you remember the stars, you will remember you always have hope.”
