Ocean met shore in a mingling of sand and water, the ebbing waves almost hypnotising any who looked for too long. Sea fog hung thick and heavy, illuminated only by the thumbnail moon high above; and a thousand tiny flecks of stars that shown through the mist like glittering eyes. The air was coaxed along by a gentle breeze; enough that a bird wouldn’t have to work too hard to fly; but not enough that it was a labor-free chore.
He had made good time, at least, Cameron realized as he swiveled up his head, his good eye focusing on the faintly flickering stars above, skimming over the moon. He might actually have time to get some work done while he was here. A powerful downward sweep of his wings bent the ocean air to his will, launching him upward a good foot or so as he drew ever-nearer his target.
Cam had struck out on a personal mission, although it wasn’t one that was lacking in benefits to the tree; He’d taken off for Silverveil in search of new songs; new music to treat the ears of the other creatures that resided at the tree. The forest that spread below him was richly green; lush with vegetation, and he could feel, in his gizzard, the lives being lived out below him. They’d have songs; he knew they would. Everything had music.
With a slight adjustment of primaries, the snowy began into his silent descent, skimming over and finally breaking through the crests of the trees with nary a rustle. He was a ghost, a white ghost in a sea of dark greens, and he tilted his head slightly to better see around him. Ah- there.
With a few hard wing-beats he launched himself upon a smallish vole that had the audacity to bolt across his path; and with a few more strokes he was perched on a bough, the dead rodent handing from his talons. A quick snack, after his long journey over the sea; and then he would begin his quest for information. Swiftly, he tore apart the mammal, taking the opportunity to gather his wits about him and plan his next move.

(Okay, okay, geeze. No, that is me, btw. Sorry about that, I told Kyran but I guess not you that I roleplay off of my sister's DSi sometimes. I'll make sure not to)
Quite the runner when it comes to food, eh? A large eagle-owl swooped down from the sparkling black sky above, just missing Cameron by a wing stroke. He circled back around and hovered, cawing,"Oy! I can tell you're not from this area, eh? Maybe the place Guardians said they called home." Locunst gave a small snort and watched the fellow owl eat. "Any certain reason you came? It must've been good, or you wouldnt've even thought of this place at night, mate."
He picked at a small feather and proceeded to inspect Cameron. "Say, you look like the luck with a charm inside type of owl, very clean. Where do you come from, anyways?" Locunst was curious about this newcomer, maybe even stunned at how perfect this owl tried to look. After this ride, Locunst knew, believe it or not, the newbie would be getting some training in this... beautiful area. Beautiful indeed.

Canis looked down at an eagle-owl and...Cam?! What was Cam, the singer from the Great Tree doing here? "This could be interesting." Canis thought and flew down to Cam. "Cam, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at the Great Tree singing?" he asked. "Was this why there hadn't been any music for days, for the owls to fall asleep to?" Canis wondered. After asking Cam his question he turned to the eagle-owl. "Hi, I'm Canis. Scholar, healer, and cook of the Great Ga'Hoole Tree." he said. "And if you don't mind me asking, who are you?" he asked studying the large owl in front of him.

"Eh?" Locunst only glanced at Canis before twitering slightly nicer, "You're from the Great Tree, huh? Nice to meet you two in a place like this, heh. And if you're squawking about singing, this fellow must be your Singer." He landed in front of Canis, extending a wing in the air. "I'm Locunst, a Guardian transfered here twelve moons ago. They wanted to know how we would survive in... oh, what is it? Oh, how we would survive in the 'lushness', the higher ranked ones just hooting their beaks off about 'if there was war, no one would expect it', and 'other owls live there, so why not us?' and the like. Well, one thing that 'no owl would expect'", Locunst grinned and stated,"is that you can get restless and then a bit wild just waiting here. Eventually your skills take you to greater heights and you leave your area. Next thing you know you're locked up by your own kind in a makeshift something-or-other being asked questions about the place. Once again they realize it's you, so they just let you back to the place and do it every two moons! Aye, can I get some slack?! They're acting like I'm just some... some... I don't know!" Locunst scraped one talon on tree bark and looked at Cameron. "But you must have it better off, no? Heheh, yeah..."

Canis looked at the owl. "It's an honor to meet you." he said. Canis is very polite and will usually say something along the lines of that the first time he meets a person. "So, it's been a year huh? I love Silverveil. It's a beauty of a forest. I've lived here before. Do you enjoy it?" he asked. "This owl seems nice." he thought. "So, do you ever think of coming back to the tree? By the way, Cam is the singer of the Great Tree. His voice is very nice to fall asleep to every day." he added. "Locunst, odd name, nice guy though." Canis thought and stood on a perch waiting for Locunst and Cam to respond.

Cameron jumped and twisted his head to peer at the newcomer that had just dropped past the tree he was in. He hadn’t seem him coming - he’d come up on his literal blind side - and he frowned a bit, staying silent. Better not to answer than to answer and risk angering him. Thought of the place at night? When he was supposed to clear the sea, broad daylight so he could be mobbed by any number of birds? No, of course not. Maybe the customs were different here.
He thought for a moment, and had just opened his beak to respond when Canis popped out of nowhere. He blinked dazedly at him, not entirely sure what he meant - he’d left after the pre-tweener wakeup song. Perhaps Canis simply hadn’t been paying attention, or he’d been burning out early.
Following the smaller owl’s gaze to Locunst, he listened quietly to his story and immediately became suspicious. It seemed odd for the guardians to forget one of their own; in fact, to Cam, it made him look almost as if he might be a slipgizzle. Perhaps there was a reason they were interrogating him; maybe someone had been leaking information? He ruffled his feathers a bit and blinked.
When Canis informed Locunst of his status in the tree, he straightened up a bit, as if to better present himself as a representative of the Great Tree. As soon as Canis had finished, Cam ducked his head slightly with a light churr sound. “Cameron, Ga’hoole Singer” he commented softly, peering back up at the newcomer and tilting his head slightly to see him better, “And I came here to research music, not to disturb the peace.”

"Eh." Locunst waved a wing at Cameron. "If anyone is disturbing the pace, that would be me, I'm sorry. but I've been doing that. Anyways," He said wearily,"I don't have any plans. I'll eventually go back to your little tree and repeat that process again, maybe report if they don't forget about me again." Locunst lifted himself back into the air and circled around a bit, finally touching down again. "Cameron, you're here to research music? Well, you'll find some interesting sounds around this place. But Canis? D'you have a real reason for coming here?"

Canis looked up at the Locunst and remembered he had to get back to the tree! It was Kyran's hatchday after all! "I was here on special business. I'm a matron and I sometimes get called outside the tree to heal the occasional hurt owlet and/or warrior. Nothing to big." he said. "We can go back to the tree together if you want." Canis said. He launched himself into the air and flew next to Locunst. "Let's go." he said and flew off with Locunst behind him.

Locunst looked back at Cameron. "G' luck! Wait up, Canis!" He flew after the owl and swayed. "What's the rush? Nothin's going on... Oh, you have to tend to something, I can understand that." Grinning, he did loops in the air. "It's actually been a while since I went to the tree. Plenty new owls to see, huh? I bet you can have a handfull sometimes. You two sound official, maybe even Cameron was trying to boast or sound important." Locunst shrugged. "But really, position sometimes doesn't matter, ya know?"
