Sovereign The large, fluffy-looking owl scoped the barren ground. The frozen desert. Blanketed in white, and swallowed in ice. Hey, who said poetry was dead? A solemn expression creased his face as he silently drifted on the wind, banking to the left and gracefully easing onto a branch. He preened his feathers, imagining females hoarding around him, complimenting his lovely, ivory wings. Sure, Sovereign wasn't exactly the cocky type, but he loved attention.. On some days, that was. Any other time though, being crowded around made him nervous. Twitchy-- like a water drop on a hot rock. He winced to himself, poor water droplet.
Of course, lately he hadn't been like that. He felt rather alone, what with being a loner. Rogue. Scavenger-- Well, no. He was an elegant owl, not some savage, brutish vulture. Hideous things, yep. Lifting his head, he squinted against the harsh sunlight, and leapt into the air. Beating his wings lightly, he drifted into another tree. A tall, lovely pine. With luxurious branches and thick, hiding leaves. Perfect. He relaxed on the branch, waiting for a more comfortable time, when the sun would be gone.
