Name: Esther
Gender: Female
Age: 11 Months
Species: Tyto alba
Kingdom: Rouge Owl
Position: None
Description/Picture:
Esther is a simply beautiful owl, everything about her screaming grace and elegance. She, like all barn owls, has the white heart-shaped face mask but hers is tainted with a single line of dark reddish brown feathering down the middle and her black eyes have a slight rosey tinge around them. Her breast feathers are shaded with a pleasant gold and covered in dark brown dots. Her wings and other bodily feathers are various shades of dark gold and splattered with ashy gray. The farther you get to the ends of her body(tail feathers and wingtips), the lighter gold it becomes yet all her feathers have random tiny dots of white. The only thing truely white on her is the ring all around her neck and under her wings.
Personality:Not the most out-going owl, Esther tends to stay away from others and carry on her life without much interaction. Shy and timid, she can be aggressive when she's provoked but holds in her feelings and lets them fly with the wind. Because of her extremely solitary(and clean) life-style, she trusts no one and tries to avoid any friendships possible, mostly because she is extremely wary and reads into others far too deep. She is a quiet, shy, non-risktaking and insecure creature and is in an ever-ragin battle with herself as she tries to discern what and who she is.She secretly yearns for acceptance and love but her wariness and untrusting attitude often pushes others away or makes her appear as a concieded recluse. Esther wishes she could be more strong and confident in anything but her flying, yet she takes things far too close to heart and is sensitive to not only her own but others emotions, making her keen to predicting arguements and such. She is more of a peacemaker than a fighter, willing to be a mediator since the sound of scrieching is unbearable to her. She isnt the most powerful but she is extremely intelligent and has an incomparable memory. Esther will one day find herself and who she is...and someone to accept her as she is, for everything she is, and see the beauty in the silence.
Strengths: Esther is a very deep thinker and as a result, she can read deeply into things and is very good at initiating and maintaining intelligent conversations, if you can get her to talk, that is. She is a powerful and graceful flier and loves to fly and hunt more than anything, almost a master of both even though all her flight feathers havent come in yet.
Weaknesses: Unfortunatly, because she reads things easily and deeply, sometimes she looks too deep into others actions and words and twists them unknowingly so it causes her much stress/distress, suspicion, and hurt, all leading to untrust. Though Esther is an exceptional flier, she doesn't know how to use her talons and beak for anything else but hunting and eating.
History: Esther was hatched with two other siblings into a warm hollow high up on a fir tree. Her parents were good..well...parents. Her mother was much kinder than her father though, who would often push the owlets to do things they were not ready to do. If they didn't comply or failed in their attempts, their father would beat them with harsh words and names an owlet should never be called, and little Esther was the subject of most of this mistreatment. The times before daybreak when their father left to go hunt first, their mother would tell them the old tales of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole. All of the owlets loved these stories and it gave them the strength and motivation to try harder and endure. Esther, out of all her siblings, was most elated by the stories and her gizzard stirred mightly whenever she thought of the valiant owls. She nor the rest of her family had ever seen a Guardian but Esther knew they were real, her gizzard told her so, and she vowed to become one one day.
When it came time to branch, Esther did better than her father or brothers had expected her to, and it wasn't long after then that she was able to leave the nest. Despite the apprehension of the world that stretched beyond the familair hollow, Esther was driven to take flight when her dear mother contracted an illness and died.
The owl has no true home now, she travels from tree to tree, concealing herself in the boughs at day and flying freely at night. She has never returned home and never left the forest of Tyto but she still clings to the seemingly far off dream that she will find a Guardian rising in the moon-lit night and follow him back to the Great Tree of Ga'Hoole.
IC: As the sun was swallowed by the horizon and the pale moon rose above the earth, a lone gray and golden creature sat in the branches of a tall pine. Bright, black eyes looked at the ghostly orb that bathed the earth in white light with an excited glint. Would she see one tonight? The ones she waited each night for in hopes of joining their shadows, would they fulfill her wish and appear before the great moon?
Esther stood closely to the edge of the branch, each time she shifted her talons it bounced a little and rattled its thin, spiny leaves. Her gizzard rumbled excitedly at first but as the moon continued its accent, it quieted and sank, along with the hopeful smile upon her beak.
She did hope she would have seen a Guardian, its battle claws and shining armor glancing the moonlight off and twinkling like stars...Perhaps... Esther thought to herself. Perhaps if I flew just above the trees! I would feel their shadows over me if they did happen to pass! Her eyes widened and her gizzard trembled once more with renewed hope. Without another thought, she opened her gold and gray wings and pushed off the frail branch, beating her still young-feathered wings and rose above the thick green canopy, her flutings combing the air and making her flight silent. Once high enough up, the young owl angled downward and began a lazy descent to the bottom of a small valley, only a wings-length away from the bristling tops of the trees of Tyto, heart-shaped face constantly moving to look up, down, and around for a sign of her sought-after Guardians, the ones who's stories sustained her through owlet-hood. By Glaux, she would never give up her search for them!
