"Alright," Dartmont nodded and grabbed a pair of coals out of his forge and set one in each of his talons. He kept an eye on Safiya, waiting for her to make the first move. Pure Ones were notable for their fighting prowess, but Dartmont still figured he would be able to handle one. He had fought a Great Gray Owl some time ago and while he had been injured, he still had put up quite a fight for the large owl. But Safiya also knew this owl better than he would, so she probably had a better idea of his capabilities and what to do about him.

"Dartmont," she hissed. "Don't try and beat him by stealth. It's got to be brute strength. He's a poor fighter but he's as cunning as they come." She prepared to fly. "Three....two......one.............FLY!"

"Understood," Dartmont replied and flied out with his mate into the cool night air and out to face this intruder on their territory.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Sentes hopped back when Safiya and a Great Horned Owl flew out of the hollow, but otherwise he didn't stand down. Truth be told, he did not come here to make battle upon Safiya, as he was certainly not one cut out to handle a bird like herself. But he knew that there were other ways of getting an owl to behave and Safiya had already exposed her weakness.

Safiya threw one coal then swooped forward, empty talon extended, ready to pierce his gizzard.

Sentes hopped over to the side, though Safiya manages to clip him across the thigh. He stand back up and lets out a very loud screech at her. "You might want reconsider your actions here, Safiya. Do you really think our lady Thalia will easily forgive you for killing me?" He asked her, trying to get her to stop her attack. "You know how highly she think of me, how enraged will she be to find that I was murdered by your talons?"

"Fool. You think she would know it was I who killed you? Even though my claws make unique markings she wouldn't know. I'll tie you to a rock and drop you in the Hoole if I have to. Stay the hagsmire away from my mate!" She hissed the last sentence. Her professional, cool, calm and collected composure she normally had when verbally assaulting Sentes was gone, replaced with a panicked, furious warrior ready to annihilate those who stood against her.

"Oh Safiya, naive as ever. I have an entire network of creature ready and able to report the incident of my death at the drop of a leaf. How many eyes do you think are watching us right now? Believe me I took my precautions before I followed you here. You kill me here and there will be others alerted immediately, ready to report to Thalia of my demise at your talons. I did not become such a great spy just all alone, I spent months forging alliances that have allowed me to hear about everything that goes on in Ambala. I've even known about your little mate here for at least a month now." Sentes smiled as he talked, pleased with how well he had played the situation. "But you need not worry, I have no intention of harming that miserable owl of yours. But, I don't know if that same can be said about the other Pure Ones, or of Thalia..."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Dartmont flew down and perched himself next to Safiya and put a wing around her, tying to get her to calm down. She needed to have a level head to deal with this guy, continuing to flip out would just be giving him the satisfaction that he wanted. "Calm down, Safiya, please," he whispered to her.

Safiya was seething. "Well, I'll take down your "network" with you, then!" she shreed. And with that, she grabbed Dartmont's talon, said a prayer and a swearword and threw both her coals into the trees.

"Quite a foolish choice, Safiya. You know that you won't be able to hide this forever. Our lady Thalia if far too smart to be fooled long by you. And then, in the end, what will you do? Will you join Prue and prove to be the traitor I've always suspected you to be, or will you kill your beloved mate in cold blood?" Sentes asked her. "I came here to offer you a way out... in exchange for your help, I can make sure Thalia remains blind to your little transgression here."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Dartmont quickly grabbed Safiya with his talon and pulled her back, trying to stop her from doing anything more. "Safiya, please, just hear him out. If you don't like his terms then we'll go away, far away. But don't lose yourself here, Safiya, you are better than this." He pleaded to her, hoping she would calm down.

Safiya looked at Dartmont. "The trees are on fire. I can't do any worse."

Dartmont put his wing around Safiya and pulled her close to him and a protective stance. "Please, just calm down a moment, we don't need to fight him," he told Safiya. It was a bit amazing to see, she had turned from a calm owl to such a fierce fighter and protector. They way she had threatened him and demanded she stay away from her mate, it was quite a sight to see and if any doubt had existed in him, it was wiped away. She had proven here just how much she really cared about him, to the point that she was willing to kill a fellow Pure One just to protect him.

"Dartmont, you don't understand. You don't know. him. He will do anything for power. We don't have to fight but he will attack anyway. Just not using claws or beaks."

"No, Safiya, please, just let us hear him out. If we kill him here that will only make things worse. They're just send other Pure Ones out here to find out what happened and that will surely not improve matters." Dartmont told her, looking over at the other Barn Owl. "I promise you everything will be fine, you are a smart owl, you can stop him, but just not here. There will be a time and a place to settle things between the two of you." Dartmont was trying everything he could to avoid a fight here, the last thing he wanted was to bring the vengeance of the Pure Ones down on Ambala. But he didn't know if Safiya would listen to him, she seemed dead set on killing this owl right here, right now, sprink whatever consequences may follow.

Safiya hissed her displeasure but listened to Dartmont. She locked back her claws and lit down on one of the smoldering trees.
(OOC: Dude, there's a forest fire! Why is no-one reacting?)

Dartmont followed Safiya's lead and proceeded to land down at the front of his hollow. "C'mon Safiya, I have a few buckets I use for colliering inside, we can grab some water from the nearby pond to quench those fires. As for you, you will remain here, understood?" He glared at the Barn Owl before heading back down into his hollow and grabbing his collier buckets.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Sentes smiled and took a deep breath of the smoky air. It always had a nice smell to him, reminded him of war and conquest. "Sure thing, I'll just be right here," he replied to the large owl and took a perch on one of the stone walls.
((OOC: I'm sorry, I didn't realize how serious it was))
