Prue could feel sweat trickle beneath her feathers and she responded rather shakily. "My name is Violet, sir." Prue felt like she could yarp, and she was worried that if she continued to perspire at this rate, the grey paste covering her feathers would be ruined.
She took a moment to size up the owl Kygoe; his wings were large compared to his miniscule body and his eyes were different sizes. He was certainly peculiar, but she could tell beneath he was cunning and wise. One they should watch out for. She could feel his squinting gaze penetrating her disguise.

Kygoe wondered what the owl was sweating about. Oh well, he thought, I'll figure it out later. "Violet eh?" he rasped. "Fine name. And you are?" he asked as he turned to Dianthe.
"Kassandra," Dianthe repled, still watching the retreating figure of Katara.
"I'm Kassandra, and we can't wait to start." she said, trembling slightly. At least it isn't Barrath, she reprimanded herself.

She could feel Kygoe focus his eyes on her for a moment in some attempt to figure her out, but soon turned his gaze to Dianthe. She felt a wave of relief come over her, but it was short-lived; she could tell this Barn owl would not go down without a fight, a mental one at least.

Kygoe assessed both of the sooties. "Can either of ya fight?" he asked, his voice rough. He hobbled over to Prue and Dianthe, his abnormally large wings dragging along behind him. He walked to the edge and leapt off, struggling to stay in the air. "Come fly now," he rasped.
"Time for the trainin' to start."

"Not quite well sir." Prue said in response to the old Barn owl. She knew she was indeed a very skilled fight and flier, but she had feared that her fighting tactics and battle style would give off some of her Prue personality, so she had decided to alter it completely.
She lifted off with a few strong wingbeats, remembering to add the faintest struggle as to mask her true identity, which could often be told apart by the way the owl flies. "But I am a fast learner."

"Aye, ya look like ya are," he said. As he struggled into the air, his large wings pulling him down, he rose above the other two. He flapped a few times, clumsily pushing the air down beneath him. He cursed silently and waited for the new Sooties to follow. "Come now," he said.
Dianthe leapt into the air, her heavily painted wings dragging her down. She didn't know how to tone down her flight, so she just tried to excel and do better then before. Failing that, she decided to fly up. Not many owls noticed her flying, as her very unique feathers tended to captivate their attention or repel it. "Like this?" she asked Kygoe, making her voice a higher, more timid chime.

Prue beat her wings and took off after Kygoe with a burst of acceleration. As she followed the ragged Barn owl about the sky, her mind couldn't help but wander to Roryk and his sister. Where was he? She thought. They had already wasted time being assigned as soldiers, but she supposed it was for the best. The Pure Ones were trusting them, lowering their guard and soon enough they would have the two Grass owls rescued and she supposed, she and Dianthe would go their separate ways.
"Thank you sir." she called in reply to his compliment.

Kygoe nodded mid air to Violet (Prue)'s thanks, storing it in his mind for later. Something wasn't right about these owls according to Katara, and he couldn't wait to report to her later.
"Follow me," he said to the owls behind him. "I'm gonna give ya a fun assignment. You're gonna go watch Safiya train the owlets."
Dianthe wondered who Safiya was. There hadn't been one in Dianthe's training classes when she had been a part of the Pure Ones. She pretended to stagger in the air so she was beak to ear with Prue. "Where's Roryk? Should we try to sneak away and find him?" she hissed, too low for Kygoe to hear.
"What are ya talking about?" Kygoe rasped suspiciously.
"Ya better not be plotting."

Prue was slightly taken aback at what Kygoe said, his abruptness to the thought that they were plotting gave her the uneasy sense that their were already suspicions mounting on them and their disguise was slipping. She gulped. "No sir." she said with a churr, as if the very thought of that was completely absurd.
She shot Dianthe a glance of warning when Kygoe averted his gaze. "She was just telling me her excitement." Prue chirped in her Violet voice. Hopefully this would be enough to sway him for now.

Kygoe eyed the two owls suspiciously. Something was not right here. Ah, maybe it's just yer mangy brain, he told himself. "Right this way. Ah, let's go find us Safiya, the trainer." he rasped, changing direction and slipping through the air. "CRUSHES!!!!" he screeched as he fell out of the sky. He rapidly flapped his oversized wings, but to no avail. He was going down hard.
"Help meeeeeeee!" he screeched as he fell. Dianthe felt a tug in her gizzard, and her face contorted. "I-I," she stumbled over her words. "I can't help him," she whispered, terror in her eyes. "Great glaux! He's falling and I can't... even... save... him." she whispered to herself. Though her words were very low, they were still in hearing range of Prue.
"I-I- I can't help him. He's going to die, and I can't save him."

There seemed to be a flicker of brown and they could no longer see the falling owl. Then the two realised that the brown flicker was an owl! She set the rather small Barn Owl down, circled once, then landed. "Kygoe, how many times have I told you, you must be carefulwhen coming in here!" She turned to Prue and Dianthe. "And you would be?"

(I was just checking, but if "they" were Prue and Dianthe, you were god-moddling AGAIN...)
