"I would if I could, but I don't know my way around the Tree enough yet. I'm as lost as you are." Prue gave a fatigued sigh. Turning, she pointed to the direction that Cleef had gone. "Cleef probably knows an exit that won't draw too much unwanted attention to ourselves," she offered, with a forced smile. "Wait - does Cleef know that you're a Pure One?" she inquired, her curiosity was divided by two concerns - Tinker's dilemma and her own secrets, could Cleef be trusted with her past?

"He knows. He had me dead to rights when we first met." Tinker said, reflectively. "Here, let's go." With that, Tinker started down the tunnel. He was confused by the other owl's usage of "ourselves." Did she want to come with him? Probably not, it was likely just a slip of the tongue.

Prue turned and began to follow Tinker down the narrow tunnel. In the silence between the two owls, Prue had time to reflect on everything that had happened to her in the short time she had been at the Great Tree - she had met two owls that she had hoped she could soon call her friends - Tinker and Cleef. Prue didn't want Tinker to leave, for his own sake; the Pure Ones were monsters, Tinker wasn't. "Tinker? If I may ask," Prue began. "Why do you want to return to the Pure Ones?" "I know it's none of my concern, I just want to know why."

Tinker turned to face Prue. "I don't..." he said weakly. "But I can't leave. What would you do if you were caught? You would never be welcomed with the Guardians and if you were ever captured by the Pure Ones the would kill you without a second thought... At least with the Pure Ones, my life is not in immediate danger. That is why. I know you feel the gains are worth the risk but I don't." With that, he turned back and continued down the passage.

Prue looked down at her talons; mangled and burnt over years. She studied her wing, a scar ran from the shoulder down to nearly the tip of the wing - the scars ran deeper than her physique, though, she would never be the same. Once a Pure One, always a Pure One. No matter how much a once-Pure One changed themselves and became better owls, all anyone else would see of them was the cloak of murder and the stench of mistakes - and they would cast away the owls like yarped pellets. Who could ever care for a monster such as a Pure One? Prue turned her attention back to Tinker. "I see," Prue sighed. "But remember, Tinker, you are always welcome to stay at the Tree." she reminded, emphasizing the 'always' with a faint smile. "Now come on, we should go find Cleef - the sooner the better."

Cleef was just about to continue in the direction he had originally been heading, when he heard the subtle sound of talons against the tree's wood. He decided to turn that way and see if it was either Prue or Tinker or another owl that knew were this part of the tree was. Cleef was met, gladly, with the face of a Sooty and barn owl. He let out a sigh of relieve. "I thought I had lost you two," he said. He then looked around again, he was beginning to recognize where they were, and it wasn't in the right direction. "I'm starting to think that we may be in the opposite side of the tree. Opposite of my hollow anyway," Cleef was able to get a glimpse outside through a hollow. Night had fallen, and owls were beginning to get more and more active throughout the tree. "But, come to think of it, I think we may be able to get out through this hollow and get to the roots where your helmet is, Tinker," Cleef turned to his friend, "That is, if you don't mind risking someone flying up for a chat or getting mildly suspicious as to who the new owl around the tree is."

"The night is still young, Cleef. It'll be fine." Tinker said. If the battlemask turned out to be any trouble Tinker resolved to abandon it and leave. It was mostly worthless anyway.

"Alright, let's get going," with that, Cleef swooped out through the empty hollow and into the shine of the moonlit night. He did a quick circle to stretch his wings and get his bearings. Then lowered down near the roots, searching for the place Tinker had laid his mask.

Tinker followed Cleef. The hollow exited on the side of the tree nearest yesterday's storm. Tinker had not had the opportunity to examine this side. Everything looked fresh and green all the way to the beaches and the sea. Tinker turned to follow Cleef. He hoped the small owl could figure out which part of the root system he had tried to use last night.

"The Roots?" Prue said, flashing Tinker a quizzical look. "I've never been to the 'Roots', what do you do there?" Prue added, swooping down to perch on a nearby rock.

Tinker looked to Gabjas with a confused look. "I, of course, don't do anything there. I was just trying to take cover from the storm last night. Cleef saw me and brought me into the tree."

"Oh - sorry. I didn't know much about the whole ordeal until I met you. I still don't." Prue replied sheepishly.

"Ah ha!" Cleef exclaimed loudly as he caught a glimpse of metal sticking out of the rock. He grabbed Tinker's belongings and flew them over to him. "Here's your order," he said as he gave Tinker his things.

(Oops >.<)
Tinker took the pathetic collection, grateful for the help, if not for the actual pile. "Thank you Cleef." He said, then looked up at the sky to get his bearings. "I'd better be leaving. It will be better to get back before they miss me than after there's been a huge commotion over my extended absence." With that, Tinker faced towards the South and moved towards a clearer spot for takeoff.

"I wish the best of your return. I will see you around, Tinker," Cleef nodded to his friend in respect. He didn't know what those Pure Ones would do on his friend's return, but Cleef would be sure to set out a day later to make sure all was well. He would find those Pure Ones and make sure nothing bad had befallen his friend. (Not to seem like I'm rushing, but I think we'll end this thread and see what we can cook up for Ayama to join. I think she's getting a bit bored in the Rping area. )
