"Eh..." Tioren felt so foolish to have done anything than fly normally. She flapped her wings to stretch them after taking Kyran's mixture and gasped in pain. She had a large gash near her front, hidden by feathers. Here you are again, Tioren. How does it make you feel? Not great, I guess, but I can't do anything normally! Tioren let out a tiny humph when Kyran came back and fixed her up. She was deep in the thought of her process to fly normally. Nothing was getting done, no arguments, she didn't even have a chaw to look for! All she did was spend time in the infirmary locked up in a stall-like area unknown to the others unless permission to visit was granted. Or in the daytime, when the keeper forget to close the stall carefully Tioren could grab scraps and start making some type of gear.
Tioren quietly repeated the question after stumbling over her own talons. "You and Canis and love?" She looked down at her wing in deep thought again. Trying to be nice, she replied and tried not to act distracted. "Well, to be honest, didn't you follow Canis back to the island of Hoole? I know the rest of the story, sure, but it's best not to utter it out loud near... even bugs. Well, yes, I think you followed Canis here because you love him so. I also think he loves you back, wich is an obvious thing to see. You two seem connected in a way. He might love you so much to-" She stopped talking and pondered for a moment. "Well, we may find that out soon, so no reason to spoil it. I've never known any owl as a friend who was in love. Even if you deny it on the outside and act as a friend only to him, there's only room to love him, not another bird." Tioren searched Kyran's face, finally turning away, emberassed. "I don't know this stuff, really, but it's a..... a good guess....." She was silent after that, staring at the tree branches.

Kyran listened to Tioren and blushed. It seemed everyone knew her story. "But what about Canis?" she thought. "He probably already likes someone else." she thought sadly. Then she looked back up at Tioren. "What makes you think he likes me?" she asked her voice starting to break. "And what do you mean when you said he might even like me enough to? To what?" she asked turning her head to one side as owls sometimes do. Then she churred. "Also, about your question earlier, yes I did follow Canis here. I came a moon cycle after him because I wanted to advance in the healing arts just a little more so that maybe, just maybe I could be a matron and spend time healing wounds with him. I know it sounds stupid but I just had this ache in my gizzard after he left, and when I came here it left and got replaced with a warm feeling." Kyran said with a very noticeable blush on her face. "And about the story, what's wrong with it? Do you think it's bad? Oh, my head is wandering so many places! We have time for this later! Back to business! How are your cuts feeling? Did the drink help?" she asked trying to keep her thoughts on what she was doing. "About the whole proving Emerilla innocent, I think we can call that off. Lets just give her a final ceremony. I know Aakesh has probably thrown her carcass in the sea already but I managed to save a feather." Kyran said while pulling out a feather with blood all over it.
While Kyran and Tioren talked, Canis flew back into his hollow. "What patient could she have at this hour? Most owls are going to sleep right now. The sun rose 2 hours ago." he thought stretching his wings. "Perhaps some owl got in a crash again." and that was his last thought before he drifted off to sleep.

Tioren nodded, ignoring the extra talk like Kyran did. "Yes, it helped. I'm feeling fine." She stared at the bloody feather, wondering again. "I need to catch up on a chaw. I don't really have one to call special and something I can train in, and it's bugging me. I've been in the same position two times, this is my second in a row. Something else that bugs me, by the way..." She ruffled her feathers around with a wing. Under a layer of feathers, a long and deep gash was seeable on her right side near the front. Amazingly, the cut wasn't bleeding even though it was deep. "I think I need more instruction for flying, but no one has offered."

"Don't you worry. I'll teach you. I'm not the best flier but it's better than nothing. Right?" Kyran said smiling. "Although, you'll need to give yourself a break for sometime. You're in no condition to fly right now. If you tried you might break a wing. About your chaws, you should join the metal chaw. I think you'd do great. Since you can't fly I'll get you from place to place. Don't worry, everything will be fine. Now, you'll need to stay in my hollow until that gash is gone. Okay?" Kyran was sure that Tioren was cut out for the metal chaw. It was time to move on. All that death was bring everyone down. Kyran was worried though. She wasn't quite sure that Tioren would ever fly again but she couldn't let the poor girl lose hope. Kyran looked at the moss and worms that she had gathered and put on the wound. They were drying out. She had to change them and she also had to make a new nest for Tioren to sleep in. "I'll be back with some fresh supplies. You hang tight." Kyran said while taking off. She flew around the tree into Canis's hollow and went inside. "He's sleeping." she thought. "Bad timing on my part." Just as Kyran flew out of the hollow, Canis woke up and saw her fly away. "Stupid!" he thought. "Why couldn't you have woken up earlier!" he hit himself in the head with his wing and flew out of the hollow to find Kyran.
Kyran flew down, onto the ground. "Now where can I find some rabbits ear moss?" she thought just as another owl flew down next to her. She turned around. "Canis? I thought you were sleeping?" she said looking at him with questioning eyes. He felt odd. "Um, well, I was but when you walked in I woke up..." he said. "Oh, okay. Can you help me find some twigs, moss, and worms?" He looked at her and smiled. "Sure" The two owls looked all over the island. Kyran found worms and moss while Canis stuffed his beak and talons with twigs. When they were finished they both flew back to Kyran's hollow. Canis made Kyran a nest and stuck rabbit's ear moss into it. Kyran threw out the old moss and worms in Tioren's cuts and replaced them with new ones. Kyran looked at Canis with shining eyes and smiled. Then Tioren's words came back to her."I think you followed Canis here because you love him... I also think he loves you back...You two seem connected in a way." she repeated the words to herself. Canis looked at her. "Is something wrong?" he asked. "Oh no, no, nothing at all. Thank you for your help." she said still a little out of it. "Well, okay, good-light!" he said and flew off. A new light dawned in Kyran's gizzard. "I love him." she said quietly and settled down into her nest for a well-deserved rest.

Tioren just smiled as Canis confusedly asked Kyran questions while she seemed dazed. Hah, the words finally sank in for once: She was in love. Tioren tiredly and quietly twittered, "I think I've made my point. He loves you, too. I bet you two day's worth of prey he'll propose within one moon. Is that a fair deal? Or do I need to shorten the time?" Before Kyran could make a sound, Tioren noticed her vision blurring. That was new. she closed her eyes, unknowingly falling into a deep sleep immedatly.
