The screeching, oh the screeching. Those damn Tyto young ones and there horrid high pitched voices sounded like ice splinters piercing through wings. Strix Streiter lifted his wings and beat them so that with one good wingstroke he could hover before Falyne, "Quit your shouting young'n. You'll attract back your friendly Saint Ageleous friends, and no matter how legendary we Guardians of Ga'Hoole are said to be, a platoon would get all three of us killed."
He let his ice cold glare fall on Falyne for a moment before he let himself perch on another branch where he could easily talk to both his king and the owlet. So, her family had died. So many quick changes in emotion made Streiter feel all the more hesitant about this whole ordeal. It would have been much easier if Aakesh hadn't arrived and blabbed that they were from the Great Tree.
"Lord Aakesh, the final word is yours, not mine, but I suggest that if we do fly with the young'n, we leave sooner than later. We don't want to risk flying in daylight and getting mobbed by crows."
The Spotted Owl swiveled his head around, once again scanning the ground, and then the canopies. Falyne's screech surely wouldn't go unnoticed. If there were other owls nearby that were enemies, and Streiter's gizzard told him that this was so, then they'd close in right about....
And then quicker than a flash of lightning, the Guardian turned around, lifting into flight just as battle claws closed where his head could have been. With a roar of frustration, the St. Aggies owl was upon him, and more were on the way. With quick movements through the branches, Strix Streiter placed himself directly in front of Falyne. Sure, he was suspicious of her, but he was not going to let a defenseless owlet get taken back to a place like Saint Ageleous. With a battle cry, the Spotted Owl struck. His Battle Claws unlocked, and with movements mastered from years of training,he sliced open the belly of his first opponent, and then with his masked head, butted the owl down into a branch. The St. Aggies bird slid off, unmoving. One down, at least five to go.
"AAAUUGH!" Streiter roared as he locked talons with his second opponent. Together, they went tumbling down into the tightly woven branches. It was up to Aakesh to keep Falyne safe while he delt with this owl, and then he would gladly go back to his spot. He just hoped his King could handle a mobbing by himself for a few moments.
But this owl was smarter than the last one he fought. It seemed the bird knew every move Strix Streiter was going to make before he made it. So, old tricks weren't going to work. No, he'd have to use his gizzuition for this battle. He broke the talon lock with the owl he was facing and flew a couple of feet back to get a good look at him. No, her....
"Disgrace to the species!" he spat before charging at his opponent once more.

King Aakesh, noble and brave, would feel the silence shatter as the young Tyto showed off her pipes, for the sudden screech was enough to drive him insane. Head would lower as he attempted to block out noise at any chance he could, and he himself would release his own hoarse cry, "Shut the bloody hell up, Tyto!" He was now not fond of this little lass at all, for though she showed potential, even the stupidest owlet knows not to screech in a hostile environment. Eyes of liquid amber would glare down towards this self-proclaimed orphan, and feel anger and irritation beginning to prickle, making his feathers puff out. With his own slick movements, he would glide down towards where the young lass was occupying a branch, and as he prepared to prevent himself from beating her senseless, the young ryb spoke up about how the decision was his. The words of the conversation rolled through his head quickly, and his head would swivel to face the ryb full on.
Beak the color of smeared charcoal upon old, age-worn pages would open up as if to provide a sound of protest; but it would merely click shut as thought process moved again. Oh, the ultimate challenge. Should the girl truly want to come along, then she should face the challenge of flying over the sea during day and night, showing that she truly wanted to become a guardian. It made sense, didn't it? Head would twist upon its axis to face the young Tyto once more, eyes of liquid amber gazing downwards into the heart-shaped face of this youngster. Let it be so, then. Voice would sound pure and strong, like a large church bell tolling in the day of Christmas. Words would be mixed in beautifully with such a deep, luxurious voice, and speech was made, "Young Tyto, let it be known that while it may seem very well that your family is deceased, and that you have been orphaned, but I assure you that we cannot be sure until we find bodies or scrooms of them. Trust me, you will be better off knowing their fate than predicting it. Only when you have determined your parents' fates soundly shall you consider coming with us. This journey is important, and thus you must do it alone, for those who truly want it and are willing to die for it will be given what they deserve. You shall be--"
It was then that the sound of clattering metal would be heard. Eyes wide with surprise, pupils have that slitted appearance, beak would part as he watched his ryb begin to duel with a St. Aggies patrol. He watched as many seemed to be produced from the night, seemed to respawn as soon as they were fallen from the darkness itself, and he watched the young ryb tumble into darkness. Oh shit. Battle armor so precisely made to not hinder his speed and agility, young king would move quickly towards an oncoming Barred Owl; battle screech resounding through the night as the serrated edges of his battle claws locked with this patrolman's helmet, the clash and clattering heard throughout the forest. As he spun the Barred Owl in a loop so as to fling him, eyes would not leave the young Tyto's body. Though trust was faulty with this young lass, he knew that it was deep down the oath of a guardian to protect the seemingly-innocent. Battle claws would release the Barred Owl's helmet, sending him crashing into an oncoming Snowy.
Thoughts seemed to be obliterated as dreadful memories of his own capture and torture raced through his mind, and head spun around until he caught sight of a massive figure diving towards his back. A Great Gray raced downwards towards him, and as the sound of battle claws unlocking was heard, the piercing pain of being caught within the beast's talons was felt. The grit covered iron battle claws were seen protruding from his flank, and the King would spin around to face him; for he would care about releasing himself from this patrolwoman's grasp. Battle cry sounded, gold would collide with iron in a dazing headbutt; and Great Gray would release its grip on the kind, blood protruding from the deep gash upon his flank. No, not now. Wings spreading out wide would form a curve like a parachute as he dove downwards towards the Great Gray, wishing to finish the battle quickly and not allowing it to have the ability to recuperate.
It was then that he felt a body slam, and breath would be lost as connection with tree bark was felt. Yes, his talons would be dug into this new foe's chest, but there was not much to be done when one's breath is forced out! Vicious movements would be made from both sides, and both would begin to fall towards the ground below; talons scratching and scraping viciously at each other to hold the other as a cushion. Battered and bruised, the King would cease his opportunity and grasp the other's throat; crushing it slowly so as to suffocate her. The gurgling and gasping heard was soon broken by the sound of cracking and breaking of bone against the hard soil; the image of the Eagle Owl King rising to the tree canopies above enchanting. There would be no time for hesitation now, and he must retreat with the lass, for her protection was of the utmost importance.
Battle claws unlocking once more, he would attempt to grab the young tyto within his grasp and flee towards a nearby forest, blood dripping from lacerations upon his body. Should the attempt fail, then he would have no choice but to try once more, and hope that it would work then. His aim was perfected after years of training, and he was a skilled worker.

She screeched once more, dark eyes wide. This was the end of her, she knew it!
That's when she realized... The owls from the Ga'Hoole tree were fighting for her. They were trying to protect her, willing to sacrifice themselves for her life?
Maybe... the stories are wrong...
She shook her head at the thought. No, these owls were incapable of showing such greatness. She was a Pure One, and they were lowly Guardians! She remembered one from the legends of old, the telling of how one of the former High Tytos, Kludd, had been slain by a group of quote-unquote "noble" owls from the Tree - one being his own brother. Letting out another demon-like screech, the young Barn Owl rose up, quickly hurtling towards the owl attacking Strix. "You leave them be!" she hooted loudly as she collided with the large owl, sending the St. Aggie's owl into a yeep-like state. Looking down upon the fight was a large Great Gray, his talons adorned with battle claws that gleamed viciously in the moonlight. Squinting faintly, he noticed the young Tyto. She looked awfully familiar, as if he had snatched her as an owlet. That's when he realized who it was. Worker 3-13, the one that had been declared missing not long after the moon had risen. Now, the question was, why was she fighting for the Guardians? That's when it hit him. She was obviously a Turnfeather, a weakling. These two lowly owls had come and tried to kill her, but she had agreed to fight for them in exchange for her life. Oh, he'd have MUCH to tell Nymbus. He snarled at her before taking to the sky once more. "FALL BACK!" He ordered, and - one by one - the rest of the owls from St. Aggie's followed the Great Gray. Faylne was left there, staring after them, before turning back to the King and the ryb, eyes blinking. "What now?" [/blockquote] NOTES: Should we take this on to the Tree? Well, fight is still going on. Aakesh attempted to grab you and run. Might as well edit your post?)

"A disgrace to the species? Ah, my dear Guardian, you don't know what you're dealing with!" the she-owl roared as the two went at it again. Strix Streiter was at his wits end with this owl. She was such a skilled fighter, but at the same time, he couldn't stop to admire such things. She was his enemy. They locked talons again, and this time, Streiter threw his weight so he could spin the owl underneath him. And it was then he got a look at her masked face. She was blind, and not a St. Aggies owl. However, before Strix Streiter could do a thing about this odd owl, Falyne charged into her, causing her to go yeep and limp in his talons.
Strix Streiter stared up at the owlet with cold eyes, but nevertheless said, "Well done Tyto. You could make a good warrior yet."
With that, the spotted owl lighted towards the ground, and gently placed the blind owl there, "I don't know who you are, but we Guardians have no personal quarrels with you. If you still must fight me, I come back for a routine check every month. For now, I would either run away, or help us fight off these Saint Ageleous owls, because they certainly are not on your side."
With that, he lighted up again, keeping a weary eye on the she-owl below him. She got up, and with a screech, flew back into the mess of owls, but did not seem to attack again. Strix Streiter would not forget that face in the next moons to come, and surely, it would not be the last time he met her either.
And then the order was given to fall back. The Saint Ageleous owls retreated. Streiter watched, his eyes full of malice as the evil owls made their escape. "Rot in hagsmire, scumbags," he muttered lowly. He then turned to Falyne, "Thank you for your help."
And now was the last question. What were they to do now? Strix Streiter felt somewhat indebted to this owlet now that she had helped save him from a potentially fatal fight. That she-owl he'd fought... she was a vicious fighter. He'd never seen a thing like it. and to top it off, she was blind.
"King Aakesh, it would be unwise for any of us to stay here now. They may have gone to regroup and attack again...." he trailed off, his eyes narrowing on the Tyto beside him. "In this case, we may want to make an exception on her making the journey alone. You know as well as I do that she wouldn't make it far with just learning how to fly tonight. A Saint Ageleous patrol would kill her in no time. I'd like to pitch an idea to you, King, if you permit it."
He paused. No, he couldn't let this owlet into the tree. Not until he was sure she could be trusted, "I shall journey with her to her home to see what has become of her parents, and lead her as far as the Sea of Hoolemere on her way back if she believes she should come back here. She then will make the journey alone while I fly an alternative path to get to the Tree. This way, she will be safe, and the tradition will be kept."

Owl would be high above in the night sky, and due to the sudden rush of adrenalin, only recently realize that talons were empty. How had he missed? It seemed an impossibility, for he was so skilled with aim. Blood dropped like the first phases of rain to the ground, though certainly not as profusely, and speckled red droplets would fall to the leaves beneath him. Oh yes, he felt the pain surging through his body; the emotion of being hurt, yet he had withstood much greater pain and survived, so surely this was nothing. With small wing beats, he would fold wings next to his body as he dove down towards the center of the battle once more, searching for any patrolmen that would continue to fight. The air seemed peaceful, but the King's drops of blood along with others' blood stained leaves and bark surrounding the vicinity.
Feathers ruffled as if he had been through a violent storm, the king allowed one eye to close slightly as laceration beneath it seeped sticky, gooey substance from it. Ah yes, the body's way of healing was indeed irritating as laceration stung viciously like a hornet attacking a bear. Wings would push outwards, catching the air just like a parachute would, and he flitted downwards to a branch higher than the others, head tilted downwards so as to watch the events that were occurring. Ah, now he was addressed by the young ryb. He certainly did have a point, for sticking in this area might prove hostile for the time being. Certainly the King would've suggested it, if he wasn't in such a belligerent state with the thrill of battle enticing him to search for more to attack. Blood pulsating rigidly through his veins, he had that dazed expression on his face as adrenalin seemed to seep away from his body.
Voice was held tight, as if a secret close to one's heart, and head would swivel towards this younger owl with a stern look upon his face; that deep voice rising and falling like the ocean's tide, "Strix Streiter, indeed that is correct a correct assumption to make. St. Aggies is known for allowing you to feel safe and secure before coming back for another attack." Gaze fell to the patrol personnel below, and eyes seemed to fixated with them; a haunting glaze came over as he hooted, "It is a pity that St. Aggies will merely collect the amour from these dead owls, only to recycle them to some other lowly owl. Perhaps it would be best if I leave you two to collect them? You may choose a preference of dropping them in the Sea of Hoolemere, or taking them to the Tree, but decide quickly, for those indecent birds will only use these against us once more should we allow them to stay upon their bodies."
Head would twist to now glance towards the young Tyto. What spunk this young owl had! Surprising for her age and status, especially with the moonblinking that went on inside the walls of St. Aggies. Decision time was now, for mind was high off the thrill of flight or fight. Deep voice would sound strong, like the sound of a church bell tolling in Christmas Day, "Young Tyto, you have heard this ryb speak. He thinks it is unsafe for you to fly alone, and I shall agree with him." Head would twist upon its axis once more, and now King Aakesh had them both in his stern, liquid amber gaze, "So let it be known, Strix Streiter, that you are to fly alongside her as you proceed to and fro this land searching for evidence of her parents' hearts beating still. We will meet here beneath the full moon; two weeks. When we meet here, we shall allow you to fly solo to the tree, should you still wish to do so."

Dark eyes glinting away from the moon, she looked back towards the other two that accompinied her. She turned to face them, full on, keeping herself as tall as possible.
As they spoke of finding her parents, however, it was all she could do not to break down and either freak out or confess herself. The young Barn Owl managed to keep her heart-shaped face up, nodding slowly. She'd have to find a Tyto nest that had been raided not too long ago. It shouldn't be hard, seeing as how St. Aggie's went on patrols almost every night. Blinking her eyes, she nodded. "I-I used to live in the Tyto Kingdom,"
she told them, knowing there was bound to be at least one recently-raided hollow. The young Barn Owl tapped her talons against the ground as Aakesh finished speaking, she nodded. She'd return in two weeks, under the light of the full moon. She was eager to begin her self-proclaimed mission, and please the High Tyto. Of course, who was to know that her fate was really to betray the Guardians? "" [/blockquote] NOTES: Sorry again. x3 WORDS: heckifiknow. Strix Streiter nodded to his King, for once in complete agreement with him. As Faylne revealed where her home used to be, Tyto Forest, Streiter knew everything was set in place. With a nod to the young Tyto, he said, "Then there is no need to wait young'n. We should make some good headway while it is still dark. I don't trust we're safe here for the rest of the night and day."
With that, he lifted himself off the ground, his wings beating silently as he flew up to Aakesh, "Glauxspeed on your way back to the tree my lord. I leave you in charge of my Chaw as an experienced Search and Rescue member yourself. If you'd like, take them out here and have them clean up this mess. Young Faylne and I will hide the armor and helmets somewhere safe in the meantime before we head out..."
He trailed off, wondering if the Tyto would complain about doing mundane chores... though he'd make it clear that complaints were not going to be tolerated while he was around. Streiter still didn't trust she was innocent, "Come young one."
